The Eddie Bauer Olympic Air 12 Tent is a quite unique tunnel-type tent with its combination of inflatable beams and aluminum poles.
Key features & benefits
- Tunnel-type tent.
- Air beams and aluminum poles.
- Two rooms.
- One door.
- 6 Windows.
- Many wall pockets.
- E-cable port.
- Stargazing fly design.
Overview
This Eddie Bauer Olympic Air 12 Tent is a long and large non-freestanding tall structure with 6 double-layer mesh/panel windows. It has only one but large door, so this may not be the best feature in view of its overall size.
You have a partial coverage fly that protects the mesh ceiling. This is why you have so many windows and unobstructed views around. As you see from the picture above, the fly can be rolled from the sides and fixed above the central area, so that you can enjoy this stargazing configuration.
Observe also that there is a small brim above the door so you have a dry entry which is always good to have. The tent comes with one divider, you can see it below as fixed to the sides. When it is closed, you have two asymmetric rooms. The smaller of them measures 102 x 88 inches (256 x 224 cm).
Other details
The tent comes with many wall pouches, they are under the roof, one is shown below. But there is also a central wall organizer opposite to the door, it is also shown in the picture below.
You have a cable port available to use in camps that offer electricity, see how it looks below.
Materials
The poles: Here you have a combination of two air beams that are 10 cm diameter, and two aluminum loops. So this is a unique set and I do not remember seeing any other tent with such a combination.
The official setup time is 10 minutes, and this with the help of the included pump.
The fabric: The fabric seems to be the same everywhere, so this is a 63D polyester with a 2000 mm waterproof rating. The floor is a bathtub-style.
Ventilation
The tent has plenty of mesh on the ceiling and on its 6 windows, but they have also added floor vents which you need when the windows must be closed. So there is not much one could object to this design.
Who is it for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 12 people, and for this you have an area of 182 ft² (16.8 m²). So this is a large space and per person this means 15.17 ft² (1.4 m²). This could be doable but as usual, it is best to drastically downgrade the number of users so that you have more comfort.
Regarding seasons & climate, the tent could be described as a 3-season family camping shelter. But it is better suited for the warmer part of the year because of plenty of mesh.
I have seen claims that it can withstand winds up to 30 mph. With such a fly, I do not think I would put it willingly into such conditions.
Regarding the weight, with its 41 lb (18.58 kg), the tent is moderately heavy, bear in mind its overall size.
Regarding the price, it looks steep but this is a quality and unique tent with aluminum poles and air beams.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, this Eddie Bauer Olympic Air 12 Tent is really nicely built, ventilated, tall and pleasant with its 6 windows. Its support system with air beams and aluminum poles is unique, though I wander why not having beams only. But the two solid poles are quality aluminum structures.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
