Key features & benefits
- Cabin type.
- Tall tent.
- Two rooms.
- One door.
- Many windows.
- Cable port.
What this is about
There is a number of tents on the market that are very similar to this Bass Pro Shops 8-Person Hub Tent, and several of them are presented here in the site.
You can compare it with the Guide Gear 8-person Hub Camping Tent and the Gazelle 26800 T4-Plus Pop-Up Portable Camping Hub Tent. The general shape is the same, but there are many important differences.
My guess is that they all come from the same factory in China, but they make them for various brands according to their own specifications and details, and with the corresponding logos.
The tent is a cabin type, and very tall with its 82 inches (208 cm) peak height, and with very steep walls. You can see it here without the fly to better understand the structure which I describe farther in the text:
The tent can be described as a hybrid double-single layer. This is because one part of it is with a full coverage fly in addition to the inner mesh and taffeta, while the other part is with a partial coverage fly, but there is more to this:
Rooms, doors and windows
There are two rooms here, the front room is all in mesh as you realize from the pictures, so the fly makes the second layer here. The divider between the rooms is shown below:
The rear room is formally a single layer, but it is with multiple windows that are all double layer type, with mesh and zippered panels. So only a smaller pert of the rear room is single layer.
There is only one external door here, and you can see it below. It is with a central zipper. The top picture above shows that the door fly flap is with zippers on the sides, this is why you can roll it up and fix above the door.
The inner door is integrated into the divider, with the central zipper, you can see it in the picture above.
Instant setup
The Bass Pro Shops 8-Person Hub Tent belongs to the group of instant tents. This is because of the frame that is pre-attached. It includes 7 panels with those X-crossed and sewn-in poles, connected with hub elements (one shown below).
But there are extra poles to put in place to support the massive door, some details are shown in the picture above. Note that they have a manual to guide you when you start using this tent.
Materials
The poles: You have fiberglass poles combined with aluminum hubs. Clearly, there are many of them and this is reflected in the weight, more below.
The fabric: They use a 150-denier polyester walls with a 3500 mm waterproof coating, my understanding is that the same is with the fly.
All mesh areas are no-see-um type. You have taped seams. The floor is a thick and fully waterproof bathtub-style polyethylene with welded seams.
Other details
- You have seen the picture of the divider, so there are no less than 6 storage pockets on it. One set is shown below.
- Two of these pockets are of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) so you can use them as media pocket, see the picture below.
- There are wall pockets close to the floor, the picture below.
- Gear loft is also included.
- E-port is available.
- It comes with tent stakes and guy out ropes.
Ventilation
In general, the tent has mesh everywhere, on the sides and on the ceiling, so this all looks good and you can have plenty of air circulation.
When it rains, you have to close all the zippered panels, and in such situations you will rely on two floor vents in the rear room.
The front room has no vents, pity. But the door flap can be staked out at least partly to get that extra air flow, see the picture below.
Who is it for
Regarding the area, they write that 8 people can sleep comfortably. But when you see the floor plan and the dimensions below, you realize this is far from true.
You have 112 ft² (10.4 m²), and per person this means 14 ft² (1.3 m²). It is possible to put 8 pads on the floor, but it is best to downgrade this tent to maximum 5-6 people. I see it perfect for parents with 2-3 kids, the two rooms give some privacy.
Regarding seasons & climate, the tent is fully closable, the fabric is strong and with a high waterproof rating. In my view, it can be used year round and in any climate. But it is also very tall and boxy, and it should not be used in windy places.
Regarding the weight, with 50 lb (22.7 kg), this is a heavy thing, so although it is more or less an instant tent, it may not be so easy to use for everybody.
The packed size of all tents of this type is not so great, the carry bag length is no less than 60 inches (152 cm). Therefore it will not fit in an ordinary car.
Regarding the price, it is in the range of its closest competitors mentioned above in the text. Please follow the links below for updates.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, the Bass Pro Shops 8-Person Hub Tent offers a compelling option for family camping, blending robust features with a cabin-style design.
Its tall structure, ample windows, and hybrid double-single layer construction provide excellent ventilation and weather protection, making it suitable for year-round use in various climates.
The instant setup, facilitated by pre-attached poles and hub elements, adds convenience, while thoughtful additions like TPU media pockets, a gear loft, and an E-port enhance functionality.
However, its weight of 50 pounds and a lengthy 60-inch packed size make it less ideal for those prioritizing portability, and the claimed 8-person capacity is optimistic, better suited for 5-6 campers or a family with children.
Despite its drawbacks, the tent scores well in protection, comfort, and features, earning a solid overall rating. The steep walls and high waterproof rating ensure reliability in adverse conditions, though its boxy shape may struggle in high winds.
For parents seeking a spacious, feature-rich tent with room dividers for privacy, this model is a strong contender, particularly when compared to similar offerings like the Guide Gear or Gazelle hub tents.
While its price aligns with competitors, potential buyers should weigh the trade-offs of its bulkiness against its comfort and durability, ensuring it matches their camping needs and vehicle capacity.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
