The Quest 8 Person Cavern Tent is a freestanding cabin type tall family camping tent with many windows, most suitable for summer camping in dry and calm conditions.
Key features & benefits
- Cabin type tent.
- Freestanding.
- 2 Rooms.
- 2 Doors.
- 4+2 Windows.
- Steel & fiberglass poles.
- Removable gear loft.
- E-cable port.
- Carry bag included.
Overview
Here you have a very tall cabin type tent with a peak height of around 7 feet (213 cm), and even in the corners you have a stand-up height of around 6 feet (183 cm). The picture below shows the tent without the fly so that you can see its frame and structure.
The tent is also fully freestanding and this means you can set it up anywhere and move short distances in the camp even when the fly is on, but make sure that you secure it to the ground properly.
There are two doors, each with a window in the upper part, and you also have four separate windows. All the windows are double-layer with a fixed mesh and a zippered panel.
Note that one of the doors has a small brim to create a dry access, this is normally very useful in the case of rain, see below how it looks. Pity they did not make it larger.
It comes with a divider which is just a simple curtain in the middle, and this makes it formally a two-room tent. The pictures above show it from the narrow side, so you realize that the walls are straight and steep, offering lots of volume and headroom inside.
Materials & other details
They do not provide enough information, and this is quite disappointing.
The poles: Here you have are a combination of steel used for the 6 legs, and fiberglass used on the roof. The poles attachment is typical, pin and ring system on the ground, sleeves on the roof, and clips on the sides.
One person can easily set this tent up. You start with the roof poles and then add legs one by one, and connect them with the corresponding roof poles through the plastic elbow elements visible in the picture above.
The fabric: The walls and the fly are a polyester, no indication about its waterproof rating. They only write it is water-resistant, so you can only guess. The seams are taped.
However, I have seen people complaining about leaking, so bear this in mind. It is best to test the tent at home and then you will get some idea.
The floor is a thicker material and a bath-tub style design, most likely polyethylene.
Other details include:
- E-port for using extension cords.
- Color-coded poles.
- Carry bag is included.
- There is a gear loft and a couple of small wall storage pockets to hold essentials.
- Tent stakes.
- A mud mat.
Ventilation
You have already seen its 6 large mesh windows, and the ceiling is also all mesh. The fly is partial coverage, so vapor can escape easily in all direction.
But when it rains, you have to close all the windows, and in such conditions you would want to have floor vents, they are missing here.

Who is this Quest 8 Person Cavern Tent for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 8 people, and for this you have 130 ft² (12 m²). This would imply around 16.2 ft² (1.5 m²) per person.
This may not look so bad, but when you see the floor dimensions, you realize it is almost impossible to put 8 pads on the floor. So it is best to forget the official capacity, the tent is for up to 4-5 people.
Regarding seasons & climate, the tent is a typical cabin type, with plenty of windows for ventilation, but without any floor vents, and with a minimal fly. It is also very boxy.
This is why it is best to use it for summer camping, or for warm and calm and dry weather in general. I have seen people complaining about its leaking in the rain.
Regarding the weight, they do not provide it, but it is around 40 lb (18 kg). In view of its overall size, this makes it quite heavy. Therefore, make sure that you use it close to your car.
Regarding the price, I would say it is fair for what you get here. Please follow the link below for updates.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In conclusion, the Quest 8 Person Cavern Tent offers a spacious and tall cabin design suitable for family camping trips, particularly in dry and calm conditions during the summer months.
With its freestanding structure and ample windows, it provides a comfortable interior space. However, the tent’s waterproofing capabilities seem questionable, as some users have reported leaking issues, emphasizing the importance of thorough testing before use.
The tent cannot comfortably accommodate eight individuals as claimed, but it still serves well for smaller groups of up to 4-5 campers.
Overall, despite its drawbacks, the tent offers decent value for its price, especially when considering its generous headroom and convenient features.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
