Stoic Tunnel Tent and Screen Porch 6-Person (Great Price)

Last Modified: 05/29/2024

The Stoic Tunnel Tent and Screen Porch 6-Person is a spacious, freestanding tent with great features, perfect for summer camping, and at an affordable price.

Key features & benefits

  • Tunnel-type tent.
  • Freestanding.
  • Three doors.
  • 3+3 Windows.
  • Screen room with a removable floor.
  • Cable port.
  • Lightweight.
  • Great price.

What this is about

Here you have an exceptionally nicely designed tunnel-type tent with some great features. The tent is freestanding because of its Y-type support loops on the front and on the rear side. You can see them in the picture below. Due to this fork-shaped pole profile, the tent is fully self-supporting.

Note also that it is quite tall, you have the inner peak height of 77 inches (196 cm).

The doors and windows

There are no less than three doors here, and all of them are more or less with a dry access design. The picture below on the left shows one of its side doors, as you realize it is with a small brim supported with a short pole. Because of this, the tent is added to my list of tents with three doors.

All the doors are with a window in the upper part, but there are also three separate windows with a fixed mesh and a zippered inner panel for rain protection and privacy.

Screen room

The front of the tent includes a screened area, and you can see it in the picture below. They describe it as a vestibule and also as a porch. This is a space with a removable floor, but it is not fully protected from the rain.

Here you can sit and enjoy views while being protected from flying insects. I have included it in my list of tents with a screen room.

Materials

The poles: The poles here are fiberglass, and this is not surprising for a budget-friendly tent. There are four of them, and two are fork-type, all shock-corded and easy to use.

The fabric: They use a 66D 190T polyester, PFAS-free and with a DWR treatment. The waterproof rating is 1000 mm, not much but you do not need more. Everything is seam-sealed.

They do not give any additional information about the floor so most likely this is the same fabric, and for the floor this is not so impressive.

Other features

  • The tent comes with a cable port shown in the picture below.
  • All zippers are with pull loops, one is shown below.
  • There are a few wall-hanging pockets to keep you organized.

Ventilation

The tent has so many windows with mesh that you can have air circulation from all the sides. When it rains the windows must be closed, but you can keep the inner door in the screen room with mesh, so you will still have enough air.

There are no floor vents but I do not think this is a big deal in view of what I mentioned above. There are no fly vents, but vapor can escape through the mesh room, so this will work fine.

Who is it for

Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people, and for this you have around 97 ft² (9 m²) in the inner floored room. This makes 16.2 ft² (1.5 m²) per person, so the space is quite modest but you can put 6 pads on the floor.

The screen room adds 52 ft² (4.8 m²), but this space is without full rain protection and you cannot count on it for gear storage.

Regarding seasons & climate, the tent is best suited for summer camping, or perhaps for maximum two seasons in calm weather and without much rain.

Regarding the weight, in view of the modest floor area, the weight of 30 lb (13.6 kg) is not so great. But note that the tent is tall, and you also have the screen room.

The packed size is also such that the tent could be described as bulky. You need a car for transportation, but this is not surprising when you see all what it offers.

Regarding the price, the tent is incredibly affordable, a great value for the money. If you need a shelter for occasional use and do not want to spend much, this is it.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

In summary, the Stoic Tunnel Tent and Screen Porch 6-Person offers an excellent blend of practical features and affordability, making it a noteworthy option for casual campers.

Its freestanding design, facilitated by Y-type support loops, ensures stability and ease of setup. The tent’s three doors, each with a dry-entry design, and numerous mesh windows provide ample ventilation and convenient access.

The addition of a screened porch area with a removable floor further enhances its utility, though it should be noted that this space lacks full rain protection.

Despite its impressive features, the tent has some limitations. The modest floor area and the relatively low waterproof rating suggest it is best suited for summer camping or mild weather conditions. However, for those seeking a shelter at a great price, the Stoic Tunnel Tent and Screen Porch 6-Person stands out as a solid investment.

Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
