Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room

Last Modified: 10/20/2026

The Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room is a versatile family camping shelter that can be used on its own and also attached to the vehicle. It offers also a large awning, an air-conditioning port, and much more.

Key features & benefits

  • Cabin type tent.
  • Very tall.
  • Screen room.
  • Awning with included poles.
  • Vehicle connection.
  • Air-conditioning port.
  • Cable port.
  • Incredible price.

What this is about

This Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room is a very tall and pleasant cabin-type structure with straight and steep walls. The peak height is 87 inches (221 cm), so it offers plenty of volume inside as you may realize from the picture:

Very tall tent.

There is an extension on one side supported with additional poles and with mesh side walls, so this is a floorless screen room where you can sit and cook protected from flying insects. This is also a great space for your dog because you do not have to care about the floor.

Because of its all features and this extension, I have included it in my list of best tents with a screened porch.

SUV Tent

On the opposite side you have a connector which allows you to attach the tent to a variety of vehicles, and this is behind the letters SUV in the official name. Below you can see through the tent to realize how this looks when it is attached.

In this configuration your vehicle becomes a part of the living space in the camp, and all your eventual stuff in the car is at hand.

Note that this side is fully closable so the tent can be used on its own as a standard screen room tent. So when you want to go somewhere from the camp, you detach the car and close the tent’s door that is on the connector side.

They give a list of vehicles which can be used to attach this tent, I am convinced that it can fit many more:

Integrated awning with poles

In addition to all this, there is an awning on the third side so this extends the covered area, and here you can sit and enjoy in the shade. The poles for this configuration are included.

The picture below shows how this looks. You have three separate and functional extensions here: the car, the screened porch, and the awning. So the overall covered and protected area is far bigger that what official numbers suggest. Namely, the area covered by the awning and the connector+car space is nowhere mentioned in the official numbers.

Materials and package

All elements in the package are shown here:

All parts.
All parts.

The poles and stakes: You have a combination of fiberglass used on the roof and steel used for leg poles. For a budget tent like this, they are quite good. The poles attach to the tent base through pin-and-ring elements at the end of leg poles, and this is the same what I have in my far more expensive Snow Peak Alpha Breeze tent.

Thew stakes are good quality, and there are 19 of them in the package. I must say they are better than in my mentioned tent.

The fabric: They use a polyester with a 2000 mm waterproof rating, so this is far more than enough for most situations. Note that they offer the tent in four different colors. The floor is bathtub type, and this is a good design.

Other details

There are several wall pockets to keep small items off the floor, this is a nice and useful addition. But this is not all; you also have a cable port, a lantern hanging point and more, see the picture:

Many useful features.
Many useful features.

I have seen some people complaining about setup instructions, but in general, this tent has a very high average rating on Amazon, around 4.3/5 at the moment of writing this text. So this cannot be without reason.

There are several videos by the brand provided on Amazon so have a look there, all is very clear.

Ventilation

This tent has opening on all four sides. The ceiling is also with three triangular openings that you can see in the picture. There are no floor vents but they are not needed in this design; when extra ventilation is needed simply keep the inner door to the screen room open.

Roof vents are not there but you do not need them, the fly is shallow so vapor van easily escape.

Plenty of openings for ventilation.

Note that it has a closable air conditioning port, you can see it in the picture below. This is a rare feature, and this is why I have included it in my list of tents with air conditioning ports.

Who is the Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room for

Regarding the capacity, the tent’s floor dimensions are 10 x 8 ft (305 x 244 cm), and this would mean that 5 people can sleep in it as you realize from the picture below on the left.

Official capacity.
Official capacity.

So I would say this is realistic, it gives 7.4 square meters, or around 1.5 m² per person. This may not look a loot but there is also the partially protected screen room which adds 48 ft² (4.4 m²) of a floorless area for gear, plus the connector area and the car itself.

But they describe it as a tent for 5-9 people, and the picture on the right tells you what they mean. This would imply that four people sleeps in the screened porch. The picture itself is misleading because the wall between the main floored area and the screened area is not removable.

Clearly, this makes no sense at all because of the following.

  • First, the screened room does not offer full protection from crawling insects and snakes.
  • Second, the screened room does not offer full protection from the rain.
  • Third, the screened room is only 5 ft (152 cm) deep, so no adults can sleep there the way they suggest.

So it is best to ignore what they write about the capacity of this tent. It is big enough for up to four people, perfect for parents with one to two kids, and also for couples.

Versatile tent for couples and families.
Versatile tent for couples and families.

Regarding seasons & climate, the tent is officially with a very good waterproof rating but it is boxy and with a partial coverage fly. So it is not for windy places with such a shape and the screen room. I see it best suited for up to two seasons and for calm weather.

Regarding the weight, the total area is more than 12 square meters, and the tent weighs 30 lb (13.6 kg).

In view of this,  it can be described as moderately heavy, but see also its impressive height. On the other hand, this is not so important, the tent is designed to be used with a vehicle or close to it, you are not supposed to carry it long distances.

The packed size is a bit better, and this parameter is more important when you have to pack all your stuff in the car trunk.

But here too, bear in mind the tent’s overall volume and features, in particular the integrated awning with its added poles; they add weight and bulk, but they also add a lot to the comfort and livability of this tent.

Regarding the price, it is simply amazing for such a tent. Just have a look at all its features and versatility and you will realize this.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

In summary, the Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room is a very versatile and affordable shelter with several features that are hard to find in this price range.

It offers a tall cabin design, a useful screened porch, an integrated awning, a vehicle connection, and even an air-conditioning port. The main floored area is suitable for up to four people, and the additional spaces make the tent particularly comfortable for car camping.

On the other hand, this is not a tent for demanding weather conditions, and the official capacity of 5-9 people is unrealistic if you need everyone to sleep in the tent with proper protection.

I see it best suited for couples and smaller families who camp in mild weather and want plenty of covered space without spending much. If this matches your needs, the Timber Ridge SUV Tent with Screen Room is certainly worth considering.

Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:

My first tent was the one I used with my wife when we went on our honeymoon. In fact, you can see it in About page here in the site. Read More…
