The Core 6 Person Lighted Dome Tent with Full Rainfly is incredibly affordable yet it comes with several truly great features that include a full fly, a vestibule and an integrated light.
Key features & benefits
- Lighted tent.
- Full coverage fly.
- Lightweight.
- Easy to use.
- E-port.
- Incredible price.
Overview
This is a double-layer tent with a canopy made of mesh and taffeta, plus a full coverage fly that creates a large front vestibule. The structure is a simple dome with two X-crossed poles which you can see in the picture below. There is one extra pole that supports the vestibule.
When the fly is on, you have to stake it properly to have a functional vestibule, so as a whole the tent is not freestanding. The peak heght is 66 inches (168 cm).
You have one door here and it is with mesh on the upper part. So when the vestibule flap is rolled up as in the top picture above, you can have views in that direction.
Lighted tent
The tent comes with a LED hub light with 2 levels of glare-free lighting, high and low. 3D batteries are not included. Because of this feature, I have included it in my list of lighted tents.
If this is not enough, you still have a cable port for electricity, to accommodate an extension cord if you are in a camp where power is available.
Materials
The poles: The tent is supported with three fiberglass shock-corded poles that attach to the tent’s base through pin and ring system, and on the canopy you have clips. Some of the sections in the upper part are slightly pre-bent and this adds a bit of extra volume.
You also have 8 steel stakes in the package, and guylines.
The fabric: They describe it as a H20 Block Technology, so this is the same what they have in many of their tents. The fabric is water-repellent 68D polyester, with sealed seams.
Some sellers write that the waterproof rating is 2000 mm, but on the Core site I could not find this information. The floor is a durable 115 gsm catenary cut polyethylene, so you are safe from this side for sure.
Apart from the tent itself, the picture below shows all the elements in the package:
Ventilation
This tent has mesh areas on the canopy so vapor can easily escape. This will all work fine as long as the vestibule is open.
But in the case of rain you will have to close it, and in such situations you would want to have vents. Unfortunately this is not what the designers of this tent think.
Who is it for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people and for this you have 89.3 ft² (8.3 m²). This would mean 14.9 ft² (1.39 m²) per person, plus the storage space under the vestibule. Alternatively, you can put two queen size beds inside.
Regarding seasons & climate, on Amazon they describe it as a 4-season tent and I find this quite a strong statement. But this may depend on how much one is ready to suffer in a tent.
However, the tent is low profile and aerodynamic, and there is no doubt it will protect you well even in very windy places. You can see in the picture how it looks when the vestibule is closed.
Regarding the weight, this tent is on the lighter side with its 18 lb (8.2 kg). But this is a car camping shelter so the weight is not so important. More important is its packed size which is not bad at all, numbers below, see how the carry bag looks:
Regarding the price, it is simply incredible, you will hardly find such a features/price combination, and backed with such a renown brand.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, for a tent with such an incredible price, this Core 6 Person Lighted Dome Tent with Full Rainfly is surprisingly well-built and with great features. But this is a budget tent, and it is best to test it at home before going outdoors, just to be sure and to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
