The Kelty Breeze-Thru Screenhouse is freestanding and with completely vertical walls and magnetic doors, very tall and pleasant, and with a waterproof roof.
Key features & benefits
- Very tall shelter.
- Magnetic doors.
- Freestanding.
Overview
Here you have a cabin-style screen house with completely vertical walls, and you realize this from the picture above. It can be described as freestanding, but it is not really rigid, so do not miss staking it to the ground.
It is almost the same as the Wenzel Magnetic Screen House, so most likely they come from the same factory.
The structure is with large doors on its wider sides. The best part in the deign here is it magnetic door closure. You have magnets sewn-in, one pair is shown in the picture below.
So there are no annoying zippers. This allows for hands free entry and exit, and if you have ever been in a camp you will know to appreciate this great feature.
The shelter is made to fit over a regular size picnic table and it is also tall enough inside to stand up and move around. The peak height is 90 inches (229 cm), so this is quite typical for such shelters.
Materials
The poles: You have them 7 in total, and this is a combination of four steel legs and three fiberglass roof poles. The attachment at the tent base is through sockets, see the picture below.
Higher you have clips, and sleeves are on the roof, shown below. The tent comes with pre-attached elbow elements where you connect the leg poles and roof poles.
I have a similar screen house at home, so I know it is best to put roof poles in place first, and then start adding legs. One person can do the job, I have done this myself many times, but it is easier if you have a partner.
The fabric: This is a combination of a 68D polyester used for the roof and along the perimeter at the base, with a 1200 mm PU coating, and a No-See-Um Mesh that is everywhere around. So this explains the words Breeze-Thru in its official name.
It comes with a Shark Mouth carry duffle that makes for quick and easy pack-up. You also have pre-attached guylines for added stability.
Who is this Kelty Breeze-Thru Screenhouse for
Regarding the best use this is an excellent accessory shelter to use next to your camping tent. In such an environment you can use it as a dining and living room, you will be safe from flying insects, and you will also have a shade.
It can be raised above a small tent as well, to provide a shade if you are in a too sunny place. If you go on picnic with family or friends, you can put it directly over a fixed table in a park, it will provide a limited rain protection as well. You can use it also in the garden.
Regarding the area, you have 99 ft² (9.2 m²), so this is quite a size for a dining table and several camping chairs. How many? Well, this will depend on their design of course.
Regarding the weight, I would describe it as typical for this type, so it is lightweight but do not plan to carry it long distances.
Regarding the packed size it can be described as a bit bulky. But you have a nice carry bag included, see below how it looks.
Regarding the price, it is a bit more expensive than its competitor mentioned above, but you have a lifetime warranty with it.
