Key features & benefits
- Instant setup.
- Freestanding.
- Two rooms.
- Two doors.
- 4 + 2 Windows.
- Cable port.
Overview
This CORE Equipment 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent should not be mixed with their another 10-person family camping tent that is also presented here in the site.
Both tents have the same base size and height, but the tent presented here is very different. This is a cabin type freestanding shelter, and it is moderately tall with its 78 inches (198 cm) peak height, see the picture.
Rooms, doors and windows
The tent comes with a divider in the center of the tent, equipped with a zipper in the middle, so you can create two separate rooms, see it below. In this case each of the rooms has its separate door as you can seen in the picture above. The divider is between the two doors.
Both doors have a large window in the upper part, together with a zippered panel. But there are also two additional double-layer separate windows in each of the two rooms, so this is 6 windows in total. This makes the tent very pleasant and with views on all four sides.
Instant design
The tent is big, but the frame is pre-attached to it, so it is extremely easy to use. The pictures below show the main steps in the setup, you unfold the tent and then extend its leg poles one after another. One person can do the job with ease.
Note that the fly is a separate element and you have to put it on the tent and attach with buckles to the legs. For this, it is easier to have somebody to help. Due to these features, the tent in my list of best instant tents.
They provide a manual for this tent, so have a look to see more about setup and maintenance.
Materials
There are only three main elements here, the tent with its frame and many elements in it (poles, hub elements, etc.), the divider, and the fly.
But the picture below shows all the pieces that are used for the construction, the hubs and poles are all pre-attached so no worry about their number. They give the parts numbers for each of them, this is good to have in case that you have to replace any of it later.
The frame: You have a steel construction with 6 leg poles connected with hubs to the roof poles, they are telescopic and strong.
The fabric: They use what they call the H20 Block Technology that combines a water-repellent polyester fabrics with a fully taped rainfly and sealed seams to lock out the elements. Main features of the fabric are shown in the picture:
The waterproof rating is 1200 mm, this may look low but you will never need more. The floor is a catenary cut design and it is made of a polyethylene, a thick and waterproof plastic material.
Other details
- There are 16 stakes in the package.
- All guylines are included.
- There is also a cable port (the picture below).
Ventilation
You have already seen about the 6 windows, so this is a larger mesh area that allows for air circulation in all directions. The ceiling is also mesh for vertical air flow and to allow for vapor to escape.
They have added two low floor vents, one shown in the picture above. All in all, there is nothing really to object here regarding ventilation, all that is needed is in place.
Who is the CORE 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 10 people and the dimensions are such that it may be possible to put 10 pads on the floor, see the picture below.
But they rightly suggest to downgrade it by half and this is then a realistic capacity. In view of two rooms, the tent can be used by two couples, and also by parents with up to 3-4 kids.
Regarding seasons & climate, this is a solid tent for summer camping, and perhaps for up to two seasons in the warmer part of the year. It is ventilated and very livable, waterproof rating is appropriate and you will be protected.
The tent is quite tall and boxy and I do not think it should be used in windy places. Note that they have yet another 10-person tent with a full coverage fly if you think you may need such a design.
Regarding the weight, in view of its 36 lb (16 kg), the tent is heavy, but this is normal for such a type. Instant tents are with a massive frame so they are stable and strong but heavy.
The packed size is such that it can be described as long when packed, but here again this is very typical for such a type, see the numbers below.
Regarding the price, I would say it is fair for such a great tent. You have a reliable brand behind it. Check the links below for updates.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, the CORE Equipment 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent is a great choice for family or group camping in mild conditions. Its instant setup, freestanding design, and two-room configuration with separate doors and six windows make it highly functional and user-friendly.
The tent’s ventilation is excellent, with ample mesh and floor vents ensuring air circulation, while the H20 Block Technology and 1200 mm waterproof rating provide reliable protection.
Though officially rated for 10 people, it’s better suited for 4-6, offering a comfortable space for smaller groups or families.
However, the tent’s weight and packed size make it less ideal for frequent transport, and its boxy shape isn’t suited for high winds.
Despite these drawbacks, the combination of ease of use, thoughtful features like the cable port, and a fair price point make it a dependable option for summer camping.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:

I just realized that, for some reason, I had not received your regular tent review for a while. Oh no! Maybe an ambitious spam filter, who knows. I promptly resubscribed using a different account.
This discovery made me realize that your detailed and insightful tent reviews is one of my favourite weekend “preparing-for-retirement” activities. As a life long family-car-camper located in Canada, your coverage of new tents designed for the European market is both eye opening and intriguing. When the day comes when my wife and I buy our downsized-but-still-comfortable-and-rugged tent for retirement adventures, I will be sure to order it through one of your links.
All this to say, please keep up the good work. It is very much appreciated!
Cheers from Canada
