What is in the name
This Ozark Trail 8-Person Dual Dome Tent includes two separate dome-type tents that can be used as a connected set or individually. The top picture above shows them connected, but below you can see how they can be used as separate tents.
The larger of the two tents is for five people, and the smaller for three. The smaller tent has a pre-attached awning that connects it to the larger tent (see it on the right in the picture above), creating a covered and protected tunnel between the tents.
The set is practically a 2-room structure with lots of privacy for users. Clearly, I have very good reasons to add it to my list of best connectable tents.
The tents are quite low, bear this in mind, the peak height in the bigger tent is only 5 ft (152 cm). The aerial view below shows that the structure is very long, so plan the space and orientation in the camp.
Doors and windows
Each of the two tents has two doors. So even when they are connected through the tunnel as in the picture above, each of the units has its own separate access points.
Clearly, this is a very functional design. The two mud mats in the picture above show the positions of the mentioned doors.
Note that the doors have small brims but they are not large enough to protect the doors, so this is not a true dry entry.
The larger tent has a roof window as well, you can see it on the left in the picture above.
Materials
In their description they write “setting up is a breeze with the fast feet frame and fly attachment system”. In fact, there are many elements in the package as you realize from the picture below.
This includes two separate sets of poles, two separate inner tents, two separate flies, removable pockets and gear loft, plus stakes. But indeed, one person can easily set this structure up. They recommend to plan 20 minutes for two people.
The poles and stakes: You have fiberglass poles here, both for canopy support and for brims above the doors.
The package includes eight guy ropes and twenty-two 8-inch long steel stakes that provide reliable wind stability.
The fabric: The do not provide any information about the fabric’s waterproof rating, so this is really disappointing. But this is a polyester and the seams are taped. The fly on both tents is a partial coverage type.
Other details
- The larger tent has an e-cable port shown in the picture.
- There are hanging organizers, pockets, and a clip-in gear loft to keep your essentials neatly stored and easily accessible.
Ventilation
The canopy in both tents has plenty of mesh so that vapor can escape. The fly is such that you do not need roof vents.
But when it rains, you have to keep everything closed, and in such situations you would need floor vents. They are missing here.
Who is it for
Regarding the area, the set is officially for 8 people, 5 + 3 in the two tents, and for this you have 81 + 48 ft² (7.5 + 4.6 m²). But these are dome structures with angled walls, so it is very difficult to squeeze so many people inside.
Each individual tent has place for a Queen airbed. In my view, the smaller tent is perfect for two people, and the larger for up to 3. The complete set is great for parents with two or three kids.
Regarding seasons & climate, the write it is for all seasons, but I do not think so in particular having no info about waterproof rating.
The fly is partial coverage, and although the tents are low and aerodynamic, with such a fly design this set would not last long in windy places. Use it for calm and dry weather, and test in the garden at home to avoid unpleasant situations in the camp.
Regarding the weight, with 21.89 lb (9.9 kg), I would describe it as a light shelter, but it is for car camping and this is not so important.
The packed size is also very good, the numbers below, so you can transport it even on a bicycle.
The tent comes with a carry duffle that expands for easy repacking and storage, the picture below, along with two separate carry bags for individual tent storage.
Regarding the price, it is simply incredible. But this is a reason more to test the tent properly in controlled conditions. In any case, please check the link below for updates.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, the Ozark Trail 8 Person Dual Dome Tent offers a practical and flexible solution for camping groups seeking versatility and privacy.
Its design allows the two tents to function independently or as a connected unit, making it ideal for families, couples, or small groups. Features like multiple doors, wall pockets, and an e-cable port enhance convenience, while its lightweight and compact structure make transportation easy.
However, the lack of floor vents and an unclear waterproof rating suggest it is better suited for calm, dry conditions. Proper testing in controlled settings is recommended before relying on it for more demanding environments.
Overall, this tent set excels in adaptability, offering significant value at an affordable price. While its capacity claims may be optimistic, the design accommodates smaller groups comfortably and efficiently.
The Ozark Trail 8 Person Dual Dome Tent is a smart choice for budget-conscious campers who prioritize flexibility and ease of use over high-end weather resistance.
