What this is about
The tents from this Gannet series have been around for at least 5-6 years already, but what you have here is the latest improved version. And this is the largest tent in the Gannet series.
This is a dome-type two-layer tent with a freestanding inner tent and a full coverage fly. The picture below shows how it looks without the fly. What you may not realize is that it is quite tall for a dome tent, the peak height here is 71 inches (180 cm).

The tent has two D-shaped and quite high doors that can be rolled to the side as shown in the picture below. Observe the canopy which is a mesh, but it does not start from the bottom.

Note that the tent comes with a bonus footprint, you would have to pay around $40 to buy it separately. With this, you can use the fly, footprint, and poles and create what is called fast fly variant, an ultralight shelter without the inner tent.

The fly is huge and it creates two large vestibules in front of the doors. The flaps can also be rolled to the side when not in use as shown in the picture above.
Other details
There are four useful side pockets in the corners. This allows you to stay organized and keep small items out of way. They have added very useful loops so you can use a piece of cord to hang your wet clothing, a small detail that means a lot:
You have also what they call the Gear Loft Theater system included shown below. This is a removable mesh loft that you can use as they describe for media and also to keep your gear off the floor. Here you can also put a torch.

Materials
The poles: You have three 7001 aluminum poles and their diameter is 11 millimeters. They are shock corded and color coded as you may see in the picture below. They connect to the inner tent’s canopy through sleeves and clips.
There is also a full set of aluminum stakes in the package, the picture below. So these are all good and lightweight materials.
The fabric: The canopy is a reasonably strong 68-denier 210T polyester. The same material is used for the fly where you have a polyurethane coating and 1500 waterproof rating. The mesh areas are a 40D mesh.
The floor is also from the same material and the same rating, and this is not the best. But this makes the tent backpack portable, and you also have the footprint of the same material so this is far from bad.
They write that the tent is SOR-90-245 compliant, and it passes Canadian fire tests.
Ventilation
The upper canopy is all mesh so vapor has a large area through which it can escape. They have added two fly vents so that condensation is reduced, but this can never be avoided in any tent and in particular in such a tent with a massive fly.
When the sky is clear it is best to keep the vestibules open to allow more air circulation. So for such a type, all is properly done and I do not have any objection.

Who is this Peregrine Gannet 6-Person Tent with Footprint for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people and for this you have 105 ft² (9.7 m²). This would make 17.5 ft² (1.6 m²) per person, and for a dome tent this is far from bad.
Note also that you have two large vestibules to store gear, 50 ft² (4.6 m²) in total, and this is quite impressive.
Regarding seasons & climate, note that the walls with fabric are high and only the upper part is mesh, and you have full fly above. So in hot climate it may be warm inside if you have to keep the tent closed.
But these same details offer full rain and wind protection, the tent is quite aerodynamic, and it will perform well in windy places in spite of its height. I see it better suited for a cooler climate than for a warm and dry environment.

Regarding the weight, the tent weighs 16 lb 13 oz (7.6 kg) so it is quite light. Note that they give also trail weight, numbers below, but it is far from clear what they mean by that.
You certainly do not have to carry the footprint, but the difference of 1.5 kg cannot be only because of that. It is best to ignore the trail weight entirely.
On the other hand, the fast fly weight is 4.7 kg, and this could make sense if insects and other creatures are not an issue. In any case, this tent is backpack portable.
The packed size is such that it can be described as very compact, so again, this implies it can be carried in the backpack if members of the group share the weight and pieces. This makes it quite versatile as you can certainly transport it also on a motorbike and even bicycle.
Regarding the price, it is a bit steep but this is a well designed tent and with great materials. Please check the links below and compare updated prices.
