What this is about
Here you have an impressive structure built as an extended dome. The side view below shows that it is quite asymmetric. On the left, you can see its higher door with an awning created with a pair of extra poles (not included). This extends the useful space outside, you can sit here in the shade and also use this space for cooking.
The picture below shows a bit more of this main entry point and the awning. You can use your trekking poles for this purpose.
The door on the opposite side is lower, and here you have an extension supported by one extra loop pole. Windshields are on the sides and you have a vestibule with the flap created by its two side zippers. The picture shows how you can roll it up and fix it above the door, for an easier entry.
You can keep it closed and then use the space underneath it as your storage area, see how it looks in this case:
The tent is not freestanding, and this is mainly because of this extension and its loop pole. It must be staked to be functional. But this is so useful space that I am not mentioning this as an objection, this is just to have the proper information. I have included this tent in my list of best dome tents.
This is a fully double-layer structure with a shell and an inner tent. The shell can be used independently as a shed for family events in the garden. The picture below shows how it looks without the inner tent, observe the straps that connect the poles. This is why it can be used without the inner tent.
The pictures also show the skirt that goes around the tent’s perimeter. This feature is normally added in winter tents so that you can put snow on it and stabilize the tent, and also to prevent heat loss.
The tent is moderately high, you have 70.86 inches (180 cm) peak height. Below you have a view through the shell (fly), this is from the side with the lower door.
Materials
The fabric: The inner tent is crafted from 190T breathable polyester, and the rainfly is a 210T polyester with a PU coating that gives it a 2500 mm waterproof rating. All seams are taped. The floor is a 50D Oxford polyester with a waterproof coating of 3000 mm. There are 10 windows, either mesh or solid, and they are with inner shutters.
The poles are aluminum and they intersect at 7 places, this gives lots of strength and stability to the frame. You also have 20 stakes included in the package and 8 guylines.
Who is it for
Capacity-wise, the tent is officially for 6 people. They do not provide the exact number for the inner floor area so it is difficult to say how much space the tent really offers. The floor shape is a sort of hexagon shown in the picture below.
My very rough estimate is that the area is around 151 ft² (14 m²), and this would give 25.2 ft² (2.3 m²) per person. There is also space under the vestibule, so it is fair to say that this is lots of space for 6 people.
Best use, seasons & climate: This tent can be used in all seasons. It is relatively low profile for its size, the poles are with numerous intersections so this is a very strong and stable construction. All the doors and windows can be closed if you feel cold. In the case of warm weather, you have plenty of venting options.
Weight-wise, the tent can be described as very light, it weighs 19.4 lb (8.8 kg). But this is surely not for the trail; if this is what you need with such a capacity, check my list of best 6 person backpacking tents.
The packed size is less impressive, it measures 25.8 x 20.7 x 11.2 inches (65.5 x 52.5 x 28.5 cm). All in all, this is a car camping tent.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In the summary of this Geertop Large Family Camping Tent 6 Person review, I wish to stress again that this tent is nicely built, it looks cool with its unusual windows which you have everywhere, including the rooftop. Its waterproof rating is impressive. Though I find the floor surprisingly thin and it would be a good idea to use a footprint and to protect this expensive tent.
Please see how I rate this Geertop tent, it scores great against my rating criteria:
