Key features & benefits
- Dome type tent.
- Unique design.
- 2 Large vestibules.
- Aluminum poles.
- Very tall.
- Unique printed floor pattern.
Overview
This Nemo Aurora Highrise Tent 6 Person can be described as a dome-style construction, but its design is quite unique. You can realize this from the picture below that shows the tent without the fly. The two cross poles make the sides slightly angled outwards.
They describe it as freestanding and this is indeed so but only for the inner tent. In the configuration without fly shown above, you can move it around and rotate as you wish. With the fly on, you have to stake the vestibules and this is why strictly speaking it is not freestanding.
For a dome tent, it is very tall with its 77 inches (196 cm) peak height. Note also that the ridge poles make the doors vertical, so all sides are steep and you have plenty of shoulder space inside, very atypical for a dome tent.
The doors, vestibules & windows
The tent has two doors on the opposite sides and they are completely different. The main door can be unzipped almost 360 degrees and you can store it in the pocket underneath it, this is shown in the picture below. The rear door is also visible and you see it is smaller and D-shaped.
There are two vestibules and they are the same size but asymmetric regarding the zippers. You have already seen the main vestibule with its two side zippers. So its flap can be rolled up and fixed above the door. The same flap can be used to create an awning as shown in the picture, so you have a space for sitting in the shade outside.
The rear vestibule is with a side zipper, see how it looks below. So this is an area best suited for gear storage.
There are two windows on the sides, both are visible below. They are with mesh and with inner panels.
Below you can see how the window looks when the fly is on and with the inner panel in place.
Materials
The poles: There are two pairs of two poles. One pair is for the main dome support with the usual X-crossed design, and the other two short poles I already mentioned, they make all the side walls vertical. This is aluminum with 12 and 13 mm diameter, but I have not seen information about the manufacturer.
The poles attachment at the base is with the usual grommets, and on the canopy you have long sleeves and clips.
The fabric: The canopy is a combination of a 68D polyester and No-See-Um mesh. The same polyester is used for the fabric. Surprisingly they do not provide the waterproof rating, searching around I have seen 1200 mm mentioned.
The catenary cut floor is a more durable 150D PU coated polyester with a 1500 mm rating. You have seen in the pictures above that it is printed with a colorful charming pattern. I do not remember anything similar on the market. This is a catenary cut design.
They also claim that the fabric meets flame-retardant standards without the use of harmful chemicals, and it meets CGSB-182.1 requirements.
Ventilation
The tent has mesh sections on the canopy but there are no floor vents. The fly is not a full-coverage type and it is high above windows, so this should be good enough for vapor to escape.

Warranty conditions
They claim that they proudly stand behind their products and all of them carry a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.
Who is it for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people. But let’s see how realistic this is. The inner dimensions are 120 x 100 inches (305 x 254 cm), and the inner area is 83.3 ft² (7.7 m²). This would give 13.9 ft² (1.28 m²) per person and the declared capacity is based on the backpacking principle.
There are also two vestibules that add 23.6 + 23.6 ft² (2.2 + 2.2 m²) of a very useful covered space for gear. The dimensions are such that it is possible to put 6 pads on the floor. But as usual with such designs, it is best to downgrade the actual number of users to up to 4.
Regarding seasons & climate, they describe it as a 3-season tent and this is so, the tent is almost completely a two layer structure.
The fabric is moderately durable, and the poles are thick aluminum. The sides of the tent are not really aerodynamic with such brims above the windows, so I would not use it in very windy places. In moderate weather conditions, this tent will surely protect you completely.
Regarding the weight, the tent can be described as moderately lightweight with its 18 lb 10 oz (8.46 kg). They provide the minimum weight as well, but I do not think this is of importance because there are lighter options for the trail.
The packed size is 26 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches (66 x 24 x 24 cm) and this is quite good. The duffel storage bag is shown in the picture.
All in all this is a camping tent, best suited for places with a car access.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
So this Nemo Aurora Highrise Tent 6 Person is unique with its steep sidewalls that provide lots of volume and with its side windows. The two vestibules are truly massive and offer lots of space for storage. But the inner area is a bit small for the declared capacity.
This is a quality product from a globally known outdoor brand, and it comes with excellent warranty conditions. Fully recommended.
