The Slumberjack Riverbend 10-Person, 3-room, is an incredibly affordable extended dome type tent with an interesting fly that offers a large vestibule and star gazing configurations.
Key features & benefits
- Extended dome tent.
- Fiberglass poles.
- 3 Rooms.
- 3 Doors.
- Vestibule.
- Incredible price.
Overview
Here you have a tent that belongs to the group of extended dome tents. This means it has a central dome area supported by two X-crossed poles, and two extensions on the sides, each with one supporting loop. Because of these extensions it is not freestanding so you have to stake it properly when you start to set it up.
The picture below shows it without the fly so you can understand its basic configuration:
The central dome part is high, you have 80 inches (203 cm) peak height here. But the sides extensions are considerably lower, like two shoulders.
The fly is very interesting, they write it is a full fly but this is not so. This is a partial coverage type and it does not go to the ground except on the front where it creates a front vestibule. Below you can see how it looks when the vestibule is fully closed. This is a great feature, you have a large space for storage and for your shoes, plus you have a dry entry.
On the rear side, you have a brim supported by one extra pole, that partly protects the rear window, see how it looks:
The picture below shows the vestibule flap rolled above the door, and you still have those flaps on the sides for wind protection. But this is not all, the fly offers also stargazing configuration that you see in the picture:
The doors & rooms
This tent has 3 doors. You have already seen the central door under the vestibule, but here is a closer view, observe the integrated mat:
But it has also two doors on the narrow sides, one of them is shown below:
These doors are in place so that each of its 3 rooms has its own entry point. This is really convenient to have. You have two dividers inside, the picture below shows how this looks. So do not expect much privacy here, I wonder what they were thinking when they used such a material for the dividers.
Other details
There are several extra features that must be mentioned. They include an e-cable port, a very useful gear loft with a lantern loop that you attach under the dome, and several pouches on the walls. You can see them in the pictures:
Materials
The poles: You have shock-corded fiberglass used for tent’s support. There are 6 of them in total, 4 support the tent, and 2 of them are for the fly.
The fabric: They do not provide details except for the waterproof rating which is 1200 mm and this is enough. The seams are taped.
You also have lightweight aluminum stakes and reflective guylines for added visibility in the dark. It comes with an expandable carry bag with padded handles.
Here you can see how to set this tent up:
Ventilation
The canopy of this tent is a huge mesh so vapor can easily escape. There is also a separate window with mesh. The main door is full-size mesh, while the side doors have mesh sections in the upper parts.
The fly is not full cover type so vapor can escape and condensation should never be a big issue here. There are no floor vents, the tent would be better with them. But the main door is under the vestibule and you can always have air circulation through this part of the tent.

Who is this Slumberjack Riverbend 10-Person Tent for
Regarding the area, you have 160 ft² (14.9 m²) of the floored space plus 24 ft² (2.2 m²) under the vestibule. So formally you can put 10 sleeping pads on the floor, but this is not so great. I would say this tent is best suited for up to 6 people.
Regarding seasons & climate, this is a summer camping tent, or maximum for two seasons. It has lots of mesh for decent ventilation, but it would not be a great shelter in a cold environment.
I would not put it to harsh tests regarding wind and rain, this is a tent for calm weather.
Regarding the weight, this tent weighs 26.4 lb (12 kg) and this is very good when you see its overall size. But clearly, you would not carry this tent anywhere, this is for car camping only.
Regarding the price, it is simply incredible for such a large and nicely built tent. You will have the link below to see it from your side, it changes all the time and this is why I am not giving it here.
