What this is about
This Tryhomy Wood Burning Tent Stove is available in two different variants, and this means with or without side glass windows. On the other hand, they offer it with several different sets of elements included, so you have the following options:
- Package A: 1 stove with glass windows, 1 chimney, 1 ashtray, 1 gridiron, 2 side racks.
- Package B: 1 stove with glass windows.
- Package C: 1 wood stove.
- Package D: 1 wood stove, 1 chimney, 1 ashtray, 1 gridiron, 2 side racks.
They sent me an incomplete variant D, without the side racks, pity. Note that each of the options above includes also 1 pair of gloves and 1 carry bag. The picture below shows the elements which I received, note that the pipe is there as well, more about this below.
This all fits nicely in the included carry bag. See how it looked when I was preparing to go for a picnic, but it started raining as you realize from the picture.
How it is built & materials
The stove is very easy to use. All you have to do is to unfold the front and back legs, and extend its pipe. So it is ready in seconds.
The body is a 304 stainless steel and they claim it will not corrode and rust in harsh outdoor environments. The front and the back is something that looks like a cast iron. The top lid which you see in the pictures is an aluminum alloy. They write that it is stable and strong even after a long-lasting heating.
Chimney: I would say that the chimney is the best feature of this stove. This is a quite unique telescopic construction that includes 10 segments. They all slide one into another, and then into the stove as you see in the pictures below.
The diameter of the bottom segment is 2.36 inches (60 mm), and the segment on the top has the diameter of 1.65 inches (42 mm). When you need it, just pull it out and it is ready in seconds. See how it looks when the stove is in use:
The chimney is self-supporting and quite stable because of its overlapping segments. They have included a ring and a spring piece which you can see below. This is to eventually attach the pipe to any stable object around. The ring’s diameter can be changed, just turn the handle which is on it and this will change the size, so you can put it on any position on the pipe.
Here is a detail I suggest when you deal with the chimney. When you press it from the top, the segments will simply drop into the firebox below. This may cause damages, so it is best to tilt the stove for 90 degrees so that the pipe is on the ground, then when you press and disengage the segments they will not fall. So you simply push them into the firebox.
Note that after the first fire, the steel will change the color and it becomes a bit dark, but this is normal with such stainless steel stoves.
Legs: This is yet another great feature, the legs are folding type and you close them under the stove for transportation. The picture shows how this looks, this is the bottom of the stove with legs folded:
There is no adjustability in legs but the stove is reasonably stable when the legs are unfolded as in the picture below. Note that they are angled outwards.
The door: There is a glass window on the door, see it in the picture above, and this is something I like a lot. It is great to see the fire for the atmosphere, and also to know when the time is to add some wood.
However, the door is not pre-attached to the stove. So you detach it completely when you add woods, and this is not the best design here. The picture below shows the slots on the top of the door and on the stove, so you simply hang it there. This may be quite annoying in the dark when you do not see well.
There is a damper on the door (it is visible in the picture above), so you can regulate the burning power a bit. The handle which you see in the picture is made of wood, and it is not hot during the work.
Side racks: Some of the packages mentioned above include removable side racks, the picture below shows how this looks. So you realize that they are at the same level as the cooking space, and this is an excellent detail that makes it different from some other stoves of this type. See for example this Fltom Camp Tent Stove Wood Burning.
I have not received side racks, and my stove is without side glass walls which you see in the picture, so cannot say more about these elements. Note also that they have a spark arrestor that can be ordered separately.

Who is it for
Regarding the size and heating capacity, it is hard to guess because there is no official BTU number given. But the combustion chamber has a volume close to 9 liters (550 in³) or so. You have seen the word Mini in the name, so it is indeed appropriate.
On the other hand, the chimney is 6 cm diameter and this is quite wide for such a small firebox, so combustion efficiency is good. You can compare this with the Winnerwell Nomad Medium Tent Stove where the pipe diameter is almost the same but the firebox is 13.1 liters (800 in³).
The pipe length is 43.7 inches (110 cm), and the total height with the stove is 53.15 inches (135 cm). So if you plan to use it as a wood burning tent stove, it is suitable for low camping tents for 1-2 people.
We used it in the evening as well, so without the light we could enjoy watching the fire. I can tell you that the first 3 segments of the pipe were red, and the flame was clearly visible getting out from the top of the pipe. I was a bit worried about damages.
Indeed, when the fire was over and the stove cooled down, it was a bit difficult to push the last two segments into the firebox. I am not sure how this will be in a long run, but so far so good.
So I would say the pipe is perfect diameter for such a combustion chamber, and I have experienced this in cooking on this stove recently. It works like crazy.
Regarding cooking, the effective cooking area is 7.9 x 5.9 inches (20 x 15 cm), so this is quite small, but good enough for solo use or perhaps for two campers.
You have seen in the pictures above my Bialetti Espresso Maker on the stove, so this gives you some idea about the cooking area size. I had my coffee ready in just a few minutes, probably faster than what it would be on my MSR Pocket Rocket backpacking burner.
The mentioned side racks extend the useful space drastically, so you can keep your pots on the side while still cooking on the central area. Pity that my stove came without them.
Regarding the weight, this is is a light stove, no matter which of the options you choose. It weighs around half of the mentioned Winnerwell Nomad Medium Tent Stove.
You can take the volume of the firebox and weight ratio as a parameter to compare with some other stoves. So for the version A mentioned above this is 1.85 liters/kg. You can compare this with the OneTigris Tiger Roar Tent Stove where this value is around 1.5 liters/kg.
The packed size is also very good, see the dimensions below. This is how the stove looks before you put it into its carry bag. All the elements are inside.
With such dimensions it is easy to transport it on a bicycle, see the picture below. The stove is in its included carry bag. I packed it and went in the nearby forest to test it there, but the wood around was all wet, and the weather changed quickly. So I did my first testing in the garden because I had dry wood at home.
Regarding the price, it is almost the same as for the model available on Amazon, and you can expect to have a free and fast shipping as well.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, this Tryhomy Mini Wood Stove for Tent Camping comes with several really cool and useful features. Those include its unique extendable telescopic pipe, a glass on the door and on the sides, and side racks.
The stove is easy to use, very light and compact. I see it as very suitable for solo camping, picnics, and fishing. Take it with you when you work in the field or anywhere where you have some wood to burn. You can transport it on a bicycle and also carry in the hand.
It is a good idea to order the version with the side racks, this increases the useful top area by a factor 2.5 or even more. The stove is included in my list of best wood burning tent stoves.
I am normally very generous in rating these wood burning tent stoves, but I use the same criteria and I apply them consistently for easy comparison with other stoves. See how this stove stands:
