Key features & benefits

- Easy to use.
Overview
This Big Agnes Spicer Peak 6 Tent is a dome-shaped tent with two main poles and one shorter ridge pole that pulls the doors up and make them vertical. The picture below shows the tent without the fly so you can understand its structure.
As you realize, the poles are slightly pre-shaped so the tent offers lots volume, much more than in standard dome tents. Without the fly, the structure is fully freestanding.
The tent is surprisingly tall for a dome type, the peak height is shown in the picture below, so you have a stand-up height in the bigger part of it. There are two doors and two vestibules shown as gray triangular areas in the picture.
The fly is a full coverage type and when you close everything you are fully protected together with your gear under the vestibules. I have included it in my list of best tents with a full fly. See how it looks with the closed vestibule:
Materials
The poles: You have impressive Pressfit aluminum pole set, they attach to tent body with plastic clips and sleeves.
The fabric: The fly and bathtub floor are polyester taffeta with a 1500 mm waterproof polyurethane coating. The canopy is a polyester taffeta and a nylon mesh. All seams are taped with waterproof polyurethane tape.
Other details
- 8 Internal storage pockets.
- Quick Stash door keeper pockets when you unzip the doors.
- Color-coded webbing and buckles.
- Pre-cut guylines and tensioners attached to the fly.
- Hook and loop tabs connect fly to pole structure for extra stability.
- Enhanced visibility at night with reflective guylines and webbing.
- Multiple interior loops to attach gear lofts, accessories, and mtnGLO Tent & Camp Lights (not included).
- Big Agnes Spicer Peak 6 Footprint is available and you can order it separately. It weighs 1 lb 3 oz (539 g). With this you can have the fast fly variant that weighs 11 lb 1 oz (5.02 kg).
- 8 Big Agnes Dirt Dagger UL Tent Stakes.
- Compatible with Trapezoid, Large Trapezoid, Triangle, and Square Gear Lots, all sold separately.
Ventilation
The upper canopy is all mesh, and you have mesh also on the upper sections of the door. However, there are no floor vents, and the fly is also without vents. I wonder what they were thinking.

Who is it for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people, and for this you have an inner floored area of 82 ft² (7.6 m²). This means 13.66 ft² (1.27 m²) per person.
This is not much, but there are two vestibules that add 30 ft² (2.8 m²). So this is not bad, the total covered space is 112 ft² (10.4 m²), but it is best to downgrade the number of users to 4 maximum.
Regarding seasons & climate, they describe it as a 3-season tent, but it is with a mesh canopy so I would not use it in a very cold environment. It is best to use it as a 2-season tent in the warmer part of the year, but then there is the mentioned issue of vents.
The full fly protects you completely, and the structure is quite aerodynamic although very tall. So it should perform well even in moderately windy places.
Regarding the weight, this tent can be described as light with its 15 lb 4 oz (6.92 kg). They provide the trail weight as well but this is not a tent for the trail. There are lighter 6-person options if you need something to carry in the pack.
The packed size is such that it can be described as a bit bulky, the numbers are below, but this is not a big deal, you will not carry it in the pack.
Regarding the price, it is steep, but I guess this is expected from such a brand, you have quality materials here.
