NTK Arizona GT Tent 9 To 10 Person – Reliable Full Coverage Fly

Last Modified: 11/27/2023

NTK Arizona GT Tent 9 to 10 person is a nicely built and very reliable 3-season family camping tent with a full coverage fly which will protect you in any weather situations. The tent is a 2-room type with plenty of mesh and an excellent ventilation.

Key features & benefits

  • 2 rooms.
  • Full coverage fly.
  • Full protection.
  • Gear loft included.
  • A lantern with batteries included valued 14.99.
  • Great price.

Where to buy

  • This tent is available at Amazon.
  • You will find it also at Walmart.

What kind of tent is this

The Arizona GT tent is a non-freestanding 3-season tent, double-layer type. The structure is a hybrid between a dome, extended-dome, and tunnel-type tent.

The tent is designed with 2 rooms, and it comes with a full-coverage fly, see the picture, so you have a full protection in any situations in a  3-season use.

Who is it for

The declared capacity of this tent is “9 to 10” people. Now, the floor area is 140 ft² (13 m²), and for an assumed number of 9 users, this would give 15.6 ft² (1.44 m²) per person. For 10 people this would be even less. So this is a very small area for such a number of people, they have obviously used a backpacking criterion for the tent’s capacity.

But with 26.45 lb (12 kg) of weight, this is not a backpacking tool. This is a camping tent to be used at places with a car access. So the declared capacity makes no much sense. If you want any comfort, you will not use it for more than 5 – 6 people.

The tent is suitable for groups of friends and for families as long as it is used in a motorized access camp. You can easily fit two queen size beds in, and you will still have plenty of space to spare.

Seasons-wise, this is a 3-season tent suitable for a warmer climate. This is because of the mesh (see the picture below) which you have in the inner tent; such a construction would not preserve the warmth.

Materials & construction

The tent is a double layer type and this means you have the inner tent plus the fly. This is perfect for any use in a normal 3-season camping.

The fly is a PU coated polyester taffeta 68D 190T with a 2500 mm waterproof rating. So this is a good rating, and in view of its full-coverage design, you will be fully protected in this tent. All seams are sealed and there is a statement about UV protection. The durability is modest, to say the least, but this is quite typical for such family camping tents.

I have seen some confusion about waterproofness rating; apparently, it is upgraded from the first versions of the tent so the value mentioned above should be accurate.

The same 68D is the inner tent with a polyester mesh which is ultra-thin no-see-um style and it will keep you safe from the smallest insects and mosquitoes.

The poles are fiberglass, so this is not the best option and they need some care when you use them because they are not as durable as aluminum. You have an aluminum pin-and-ring system for an easy and quick setup. There are 5 poles in total. Two create the main central dome part and the rest create the extensions on the sides, and they give the tent its tunnel shape.

The floor is a heavy-duty anti-fungus seamless polyethylene with an inner silver coated layer to keep you dry. Such materials are always fully waterproof. The design is a bathtub-style. If you are not familiar, this means that the seams (with the rest of the tent) are above the ground, some 20 cm or so, so they are safe from the groundwater.

The materials used here meet CPAI-84 flammability requirements.

Inside, you have a divider that attaches to the walls and the ceiling through toggles. It is with a central zipper, and there is no floor zipper. So it is almost like a curtain, but it gives some privacy. Such a design is frequent in family camping tents. When not in use, you can roll it to the sides or remove it. The tent’s structure with the divider is asymmetric. The rooms take roughly 1/3 and 2/3 of the tent area.

There are two external doors on the inner tent and on the fly. Mesh is everywhere for ventilation and protection.

Ventilation

This tent is built for a warmer climate, so you have mesh everywhere on the canopy. As usual, the main issues are when you put the fly on. But here you have no less than 3 vents on the fly, one is shown above, plus all the mesh on windows and in the canopy, and I have not seen anybody complaining about ventilation and condensation.

It is best that you see this happy family unpacking and setting the tent up for the first time. When you order it you will be in the same situation, so have a look, all steps are shown:

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons

In the summary of this NTK Arizona GT Tent review, I would like to stress again that this is a reliable family camping tent with all the features you need for a normal 3-season use.

The tent is built by a Brasilian company so you can guess about the climate it is best suited for; you have lots of mesh and the tent works great in a warmer environment. So I can fully recommend this tent.

In view of the bonuses (the gear loft, the mat, and the lantern) and the overall quality, I think this is a very good price. See how I rate it:
