Why this text & what this is about
If you look around on the Internet, you will see this OneTigris Rock Fortress Hot Tent described as a 4-season tent. This may be so, but there is more to the story, so keep reading.
What you have here is a single-layer tipi (teepee) tent supported with a single central pole. This is a floorless structure, so you basically only have a shell tent to protect you from the elements.
From the picture below you can see some of its most important dimensions. As you realize, it is very tall but the roof is angled so the volume is reduced.
As usual for this type, it is not freestanding, so make sure you use it on a terrain where you can use its stake and secure it to the ground. After that, adding the pole is simple, so one person can do the job with ease.
The tent has two symmetric doors on the opposite sides for an easy access for all the occupants. See how they look:
Hot Tent with Stove Jack
This implies that the tent comes with an integrated opening on the roof, see the pictures, so you can use a wood burning tent stove inside. When not in use, you have a flap equipped with Velcro to close it.
Because it is floorless, you can be relaxed when the stove is inside. The stove jack pre-cut dimensions are 3.3 x 3.3 inches and the pipe opening is made suitable for their Tiger Roar stove which you can use with this tent.
Accessory OneTiger Mesh Inner Tent 04
So, they sell an accessory mesh inner tent, see the picture, and even in this case the stove can be used because it is placed in the part that is not occupied with the inner tent.
You can order the inner tent separately from OneSource and also from Amazon. The picture below shows the shell tent with the inner tent in place:
As you realize, it occupies one half of the space under the shell, and the rest then becomes a vestibule which you can use for gear storage and for the stove as well. So functionality of the main tent is not reduced with the inner tent in place.
More about the mesh inner tent you can see in this video:
Materials
All the elements in the main tent package are shown in the picture.
The inner tent package (ordered separately) includes the following elements:
So the inner tent can be used separately as well in areas without rain. It has a full set of stakes and ropes, and you can support it with a trekking pole or attach to a tree. You can use it also in any other floorless shell tent of an appropriate size.
The pole and stakes: You have only one massive telescopic central pole made of aluminum. As you have seen, a full set of stakes and guylines is included.
Below you can see some steps in setting this tent up, observe that the pole has a cap added so that it does not damage the shell tent. The step two tells you to stake the sides with the doors first.
Observe that the main tent is also with a loop on the top, from the outside, so you do not have to carry the pole. You can attach the tent to a tree above if available.
The fabric: The tent is made of a moderately durable 70D nylon, this is a statement on OneTigris site. It is silicone-coated and its waterproof rating is very high 3000 mm. This is excellent coating and rating.
Note that nylon becomes a bit stretchy when wet, so do not be surprised of you have to adjust the ropes occasionally. But the ropes are with integrated tensioners so no worry.
But on Amazon, you can see the statement that this is a 40D nylon. Some features are shown in the picture below.
The inner tent floor is a bathtub style polyester with a 4000 mm rating and the canopy is a mesh. The zippers are YNS.
Here are some warnings that they provide:
- Always use CO detectors and ensure there is always ventilation and air flow if use a stove inside this tent.
- Do not leave the tent unattended while the wood stove is in use.
- Clear your tent of snow/ice accumulation because the weight may damage the tent.
- Do not use inside any device which burns volatile fuel such as gasoline, alcohol, butane, etc.
Ventilation
This tent is equipped with two roof vents, you can see them in the picture below. They are equipped with mesh from inside, plus support tabs with Velcro. The skirt on the perimeter will prevent cold drafts, but you can experiment with it to improve vertical air flow.
Of course, you will always have some condensation on the underside. This can hardly be avoided in any tent. The inner tent will add to comfort in the sense that condensation droplets from the shell underside will not fall directly on you and your sleeping gear.
All in all, ventilation features are quite typical for this type, but perhaps not optimal. I must stress that there are tipi tents with low vents as well, you can see them in the Guide Gear Deluxe 18′ x 18′ Teepee Tent and in its cousin the Guide Gear Teepee Tent 18 x 18, and also in the Winterial 6-7 Person Teepee Tent.
In the video below you can see a bit more about this tent in general:
Who is OneTigris Rock Fortress Hot Tent for
Regarding the area, the tent is officially for 6 people, and the picture below shows its decagonal (10-sided) floor plan and what the brand suggests for using its area.
They do not provide the area, but it should be around 118 ft² (11 m²). In view of its angled roof this is not really a castle if 6 people are inside.
But the picture below shows how this looks with the stove in place, and you realize how large the area is. As you see, two cots are in length here, and there is no doubt you can place 3-4 more easily.
When the inner tent is in place, the picture below shows how this looks. So if users are not very tall, it is possible to place two sleeping pads in length, and one more parallel to it. This means enough place for three people, plus the whole area in the vestibule, and you can still use a stove of course.
But realistically, because of its angled roof, without the inner tent, it is best suited for up to 3-4 users plus stove. When the inner tent is in place, this is a great tent for up to two users plus a stove.
Regarding seasons and climate, this is a central question raised in the title of this text. So here is how I would summarize this issue:
- You can use this tent as it is in a cold environment, winter included. Without a stove you will have a single-layer shell to protect you from the elements. From the pictures you can see that it comes with a wind-proof skirt around its perimeter, see the picture below, with a heat retention functionality and to keep warm. Many winter tents are single-layer, so it will be bearable but far from pleasant.
- With a wood-burning tent stove used inside, you will have a hot tent as its name suggests.
- In a cold environment the inner tent, which is mesh only, will not add much to your comfort. Insects are not expected in such an environment.
- In all other seasons, it is necessary to order the inner tent. Without it, better forget it and find something else. You do not have protection from insects without the inner tent.
I am not sure why they do not sell them together. In any case, only with the inner tent in place, and with a stove used in winter, this can be described as a true 4-season tent. This is why I have included some details about the inner tent, discussing the shell tent alone would not make sense if this is about year-round use.
The tent is fully closable, and it has enough giylines and stakes, see the picture below. Observe that even the inner tent can be staked. So although it is tall, it should perform well even in windy places.
The waterproof rating is impressive, both for the fly and the inner tent’s floor, so you can be sure it will keep you dry. The tent is almost properly vented, so all necessary features are in place.
Regarding the weight, the main tent is surprisingly light with its 9.2 lb (4.2 kg). The inner tent package itself is 3.7 lb (1.7 kg) extra.
So even when this is added, you realize this is a very light construction. Bear in mind its area and the overall dimensions.
The packed size is also good, the picture below shows the main tent carry bag dimensions. But note that this is without the inner tent. You will see in the specification below its packed size. Both together, the tent could be described as a bit bulky.
Regarding the price, it is more than fair. Even if you order the inner tent extra, you will still have a great value for the money. There are links below so check from your side.

Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In summary, this OneTigris Rock Fortress Hot Tent with Stove Jack is simple, effective, versatile, easy to use, and affordable. It presents a compelling option for cold weather camping, thanks to its wood-burning stove compatibility.
While the tent alone is suitable for winter conditions, those seeking versatility in warmer climates must separately purchase the inner tent.
The tent’s construction, with its single-layer tipi design, provides effective protection and enough space for up to 6 occupants, but it is best to downgrade this number because of the angled roof.
Its notable features include a stove jack, high waterproof rating, and ultralight design. Despite some reported zipper and customer support issues, the overall value and performance make it a commendable choice for those in search of an affordable and functional 4-season tent. I have included it in my list of best tipi tents and also in the list of tents with a stove jack.
Below you can see how this tent stands against my standard rating criteria that I apply consistently to all of them here in the site so that you can easily compare:
