The 65th Anniversary Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent is an enormous and tall floorless shell of a unique shape, with around 40 square meters of covered area. It can easily accommodate at least 5 inner tents and provide full protection in all seasons.
Key features & benefits
- Huge floorless shell.
- Very tall.
- 2 Doors.
- 4 Windows.
- Awning configuration.
- Lightweight construction.
What this is about
So, as you realize from the title, this is an item they released for the 65th anniversary of this Japanese Snow Peak brand. The shape is completely unique and you cannot put this tent in any standard group.
Strictly speaking, on its own, this is not a tent. This is just an enormous non-freestanding incredibly tall floorless shell, and it needs 6 poles for support (not included in the package). You could describe it also as a luxurious tarp. From the picture below you get some idea of how big it is. The covered area is of a hexagon shape.
The peak height is impressive, and in the bigger part of the shelter you have a stand up height, so it is added to my list of very tall tents.
There are two gigantic doors on the opposite sides, they are double layer with zippered mesh and zippered panels. Below you see how the door can be rolled up and kept out of the way when not needed.
Note that the opening here is several meters wide. The top picture above shows how you can create a large awning with extra poles.
In addition, there are also four separate double layer windows with fixed mesh and zippered inner panels. With this you can regulate air circulation and privacy.
The picture below shows an unusual ‘inner roof’ that is added for reasons unknown to me, perhaps to reduce glare in such an ivory-colored shelter. I have asked them and have been waiting for an answer.
Materials
The poles & stakes: They are not included in the package, so you have to order them separately. You will need their 240 cm long Wing Poles, 6 in total. But on their UK branch site they write about four of these poles, plus two of 180 cm length, so it is best to double check.
In addition, to stabilize the tent properly, you have to order 22 of their #30 stakes, and 4 of their #40 stakes.
The fabric: The shell is a durable 210D polyester ripstop with a PU coating and water pressure resistance 1800 mm minimum, with a water repellent finish and UV protection.
The mentioned inner roof is a 68D polyester taffeta, also with a PU coating and 800 mm minimum water resistance.
What is included?
You get:
- The main shell.
- The inner roof.
- 2 Guylines 10 m long.
- 4 Guylines 7 m long.
- 4 Guylines 3.5 m long.
- Carry case, empty pole bag and empty peg bag.
Ventilation
You have seen its huge mesh areas on the windows and on the doors. But they have also added four high vents so that vapor can escape.
But when it rains, you will have to close all these areas with panels. In such situations you would want to have floor vents, they are missing here. This is surprising for this brand that has so many tents with excellent floor vents designs.
Though my own Snow Peak Alpha Breeze tent is also without low vents, and I do not really feel that I need them, but this is a different design of course.

Who is it for
Regarding the area, they write that the tent can accommodate 5-6 of their Land Base 6 Pro Inner Room tents that they sell separately, more below under Accessories.
They do not provide the number for the floorless area under the shell tent, but my estimate is that you have up to 40 square meters (431 ft²). Clearly, this is one of the largest family camping tents on the market, so it is included in my list of extra large tents.
The picture below shows how this would look when the mentioned inner tents are in place; they are represented with the gray areas. As you realize, this would still give plenty of space in the middle for camping furniture and gear.
Note that this inner room tent is a solo tent, but with lots of floor area, and this would mean that the capacity is 6 people. But from the floor plan above, you realize that with 6 of them in place, two tents would be in front of the two doors.
You can manage with one door only, you have seen its size. From this, I conclude that the shell tent is optimally used if only four or five inner tents are in place. This is why I have included this Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent in my list of best tents for 5 people. Obviously, this contradicts the number 6 in its official name.
Each of the inner tents has an area of 2.8 m² (30.14 ft²), and they are solo tents! When five of them are in place you still have 26 m² (280 ft²) of the common living area. So just imagine, this is a true camping and glamping castle.
You will see below that the inner tent’s dimensions are such that it may accommodate perhaps even two people, or an adult and a child.
In addition to this, the central area is so large that you can easily put there several freestanding tents of any type. So the true capacity of this Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent is an open question, and it may be far bigger.
Observe that the Land Base 6 Pro Inner Room tents attach to the poles of the shell tent that must be in place in any case. Below you can see one of the inner tents in place, just to get some idea of how it looks when in place.
If you put five inner tents inside, you will have an incredible 5-room structure, plus the central large floorless living room.
Regarding seasons & climate, the tent has a very good waterproof rating, and it is fully closable. The picture below shows how it looks with closed doors. If used on its own, this is a great shelter for family events in the garden, or a shade to use for picnics.
Of course, without the inner tents, you do not have full insect protection. But you will see below that inner tents are taffeta structures, so with inner tents in place, you have a true double-layer tent that can be used in any climate and in all seasons.
Regarding the weight, it weighs 34 lb (15.4 kg), so it looks heavy, but you have seen how much area it covers. It is hard to rate it properly because this is just the fly without poles and without inner tents.
The poles, the stakes, and five inner tents weigh around 21.5 kg in total. More precisely, 6 poles weigh 7.2 kg, all stakes weigh 5.3 kg, and 5 inner tents together weigh 9 kg.
So even if you add this to the mentioned fly weight, this is still a lightweight shelter with around 1.1 m²/kg. I rate it with all these elements included, because without them this is not a complete tent.
The packed size is even harder to rate. The fly alone measures 30.7 x 14.2 x 12.6 inches (78 x 36 x 32 cm) when packed. When you add all the other elements, this is a very bulky shelter.
Note that one inner tent’s packed size is 24.4 x 11.4 x 3.9 inches (62 x 29 x 10 cm), and you can have them five. I rate it with such a full set, you will see below. But in any case, this is a car camping item, you would not want to carry it anywhere, and you need lots of space for it in the car.
Regarding the price, this is not for people on a budget, as usual with this brand. All the additional elements add up, so this is a really expensive option. But tents from this brand are incredibly reliable, I know this from my own personal experience.

Accessories
Land Base 6 Pro Inner Room tent
So this is the tent mentioned in the text above. You have to use it if you want a full protection from insects. This is a breathable full-taffeta tent, with one double-layer door, and it attaches to the main shell.
Because it is fully protected under the shell tent, you can use it with mesh on the door to improve ventilation.
The canopy is a 68D polyester ripstop, and the floor is a very strong 300D polyester oxford with a PU coating and 10000 mm minimum waterproof rating.
The packed size of the inner tent is 24.4 11.4 x 3.9 inches (62 x 29 x 10 cm). Below you can see its dimensions.
The second picture shows how angled its canopy is on one side, and fully vertical on the door side. This is why the inner volume is a bit limited and not suitable for two adults, in spite of its large floor area.
But this implies that here too you can have lots of space for storage of gear next to you when you use it solo.
65th Anniversary Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro. Mat & Sheet Set
Here you have two separate elements designed to be used with the inner tent. As of the moment of writing this text, they sell them together and you can order them here.
The mat is shown below, it dimensions are 6.89 ft x 4.27 ft (210 x 130 cm). This may be convenient to use in the inner tent in particular if you camp with kids, for extra cushion and protection from the cold ground.
The outer fabric is a 68D polyester taffeta with a PU coating, and inside you have a core of a foamed polyethylene 5 mm thick. The weight is 1.7 kg.
The footprint: You can see it below. This is a piece that you put underneath the inner tent, to protect its floor. The dimensions are 7.05 ft x 4.27 ft (215 x 130 cm), and you have the same material as in the fly, a 210D polyester oxford with PU coating and 1800 mm minimum rating. It weighs 0.4 kg.
Final thoughts, rating, pros & cons
In conclusion, the 65th Anniversary Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent is a remarkable and distinctive offering from the renowned Japanese Snow Peak brand. Celebrating its 65th anniversary, this tent defies traditional categorization, presenting an enormous and tall floorless shell with a unique hexagonal shape, covering approximately 40 square meters.
Designed to accommodate at least 5 inner tents, this tent provides full protection across all seasons. The impressive peak height, two large double-layer doors, and four windows with fixed mesh and zippered panels enhance ventilation and privacy.
While the tent’s unique design and spaciousness make it a standout choice for family camping, its premium quality materials and construction, including a durable 210D polyester ripstop shell with PU coating, contribute to its hefty price tag.
Additionally, the need to separately purchase essential components like poles and stakes might be a drawback for some users. Nevertheless, the Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent offers a one-of-a-kind camping experience with its luxurious and expansive design.
In terms of functionality, the tent’s versatility is showcased through the option to add inner tents, creating a multi-room structure within the spacious floorless living area. This configuration, along with the tent’s robust waterproof rating, renders it suitable for various climates and seasons.
The tent’s significant weight is justified by its vast covered area, making it an ideal choice for car camping.
While the cost may be a deterrent for budget-conscious consumers, the Snow Peak Land Base 6 Pro Tent earns high marks for its top-tier quality, innovative design, and adaptability, securing its position as a premium choice for those seeking a distinctive and luxurious camping experience.
