Vango Sentinel Fabric Types

Last Modified: 02/01/2023

The Vango brand has a few different materials used in their tents and shelters, so here you have their Vango Sentinel fabric types presented side by side. Have a look.

Vango Sentinel Fabric Types.

Before you continue, note that in my another text I presented the Vango ProTex fabric types which they use in their technical tents. But they also have yet another line of the Sentinel fabric used in some of their less portable larger family camping tents and in awnings, with quite a number of sub-types. They are presented below.

Vango Sentinel Active

This material they use in the tents where packed size and weight are very important. Here are the most important features of this fabric:

  • Waterproof rating of 3000 mm.
  • 70D Polyester fabric.
  • Fully factory taped.
  • Fire retardant, meets ISO 5912 standards.
  • UPF 30 UV protection factor.

You have this material in their huge Vango Purbeck Tent 600.

They describe this Vango Sentinel Pro fabric as designed for dedicated campers who embark on several trips a year and often for extended breaks. So you have a blend of fibers and the double ripstop construction. This material is used in their AirAway vehicle awnings. They claim it is 245% stronger than the Sentinel Active fabric. The features are as follows:

  • High 6000 mm HH waterproof rating.

All in all, you realize that these Vango Sentinel fabric types are durable and with high waterproof rating in the range 3000 – 5000 mm. This is more than enough for most of camping situations. Vango is a brand from Scotland so they know how to deal with rain.
