What this is about
This is a new tent on the market they launched for the season 2020, but as far as I know, they have had a tent with the same name probably some 15-16 years ago. This new series currently includes two tents only. The inner tent is shown below and this is a fully freestanding structure.
But this is a tent with a full fly that creates two vestibules and those must be staked properly to be functional. I have added it to my list of tents with a full coverage fly.
The picture above shows the tent without the fly, so you realize this looks like a typical dome-style construction. But the poles are with a peculiar design shown below and this creates a bit more volume inside.
Note also that it provides an almost standing height, the peak height is 72 inches (183 cm), so this in combination with such poles design and a window, makes it very pleasant and livable.
Who is it for
Space-wise, this tent is with a declared capacity of 6 people. For this, they have provided 84.4 ft² (7.84 m²) of the inner floor area. This is a very modest area if you use it for real camping. Note that their Sierra Designs Tabernash 6 Person Tent offers more space.
But there are two vestibules that add 35.6 ft² (3.3 m²), so the total protected area per person is not so bad, you have 20 ft² (1.85 m²) for each user in the case of 6 people inside.
Climate-wise & seasons-wise, this is a reliable 3-season tent with a full-coverage fly, aerodynamic and with ventilation. The canopy is roughly half taffeta and half mesh, so this is better suited for a mild climate than for the cold. In any case, you will be protected no matter where you use this tent.
Weight-wise, this tent is impressive with its 12 lb 13 oz (5.81 kg). This is light enough to be carried on the trail, so I have added it to my list of best 6-person backpacking tents.
Materials
The poles
As I mentioned above, here you have an interesting poles design, three of them with a diameter of 12 mm. This is a top-quality DAC Pressfit 6061 aluminum set. DAC is the leading manufacturer of tent poles, so this is among the best you can expect with such a tent. All is color-coded, see the picture below, and you have long sleeves on the roof for poles.
The fabric
I could not find any information about the waterproof rating, very unusual. But the fly is a durable 68D poly taffeta with a vent shown above, and the same material is used for the floor, and all seams are taped. The body is a 15D nylon No-See-Um. Note that the fly is with a solid window so you have views around even when the vestibules are closed.
