Coleman 6 Person Dome Tents

Last Modified: 02/01/2023

If you need an affordable family camping tent for occasional outdoor adventures, check this selection of easy to use and compact Coleman 6 person dome tents.

Coleman 6 Person Dome Tents top picture.

Coleman builds their 6-person tents in all three standard shapes, so you have cabin tents, tunnel tents, and dome tents presented here. Their tunnel tents are the largest and they build them mostly for the EU market.

Most of their dome tents are built for the US area, they are very compact and easy to use. But they have some great features, and some of their best representatives are presented here in the text.

My list of best Coleman 6 person dome tents

The tents in the list are ordered by the floored area from larger to smaller.

  8. Coleman Montana 6 Person Tent

1. Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent

Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent.
Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent.

This Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent is a very typical extended dome tent. There is a central dome part and two extensions supported with extra lops.

The tent has 3 rooms. Two are bedrooms in the inner tents on the sides, and each of them is with a space for 3 people. The central area is with a removable linked-in type floor and this is a living room. The total area is 144 ft² (13.4 m²).

The tent is suitable for a 3-season camping, its waterproof rating is high. This is because it is originally built for the EU market. The poles are fiberglass.

There are 2 doors. The picture shows that it allows for an awning configuration with included poles. You will want to know also that this is a very affordable tent.

2. Coleman Skydome 6-Person Screen Room Camping Tent with Dark Room Technology

Coleman Skydome 6-Person Screen Room Camping Tent with Dark Room Technology.
Coleman Skydome 6-Person Screen Room Camping Tent with Dark Room Technology.

This tent is an extended dome type and it is officially for 6 people. It offers the total floored space of around 125 ft² (11.6 m²). The peak height is moderate 72 inches (183 cm).

But, as you realize from the name, this tent combines two great features, i) a screen room, and ii) dark rest design. The latter implies that in the bedroom, up to 90% of daylight is blocked.

You have two rooms, and the front room is built with mesh on its three sides. But it also has closable panels. So this is a fully protected room, and it doubles also as a screen room. Its area is of around 40 square feet (3.7 m²) and its floor is fully sealed.

There is an E-port as well. The tent weighs 18.34 lb (8.3 kg),

3. Coleman Elite Sundome 6 Person Camping Tent with LED Light

Coleman Elite Sundome 6 Person Camping Tent with LED Light.

The is a tent from Coleman’s Sundome series, but this is their Elite sub-group and this means it is larger than the standard Sundome tent and it has an integrated LED light.

The shape is a simple dome, but there are 2 doors, and one of them is a hinged door. Note also that there is a divider. So the tent is formally a 2-room configuration.

It also has unique auto-roll windows, and there is an E-cable port. The fly is a partial coverage type and the tent is freestanding. The poles are a fiberglass.

The tent weighs 20 lb (10.89 kg), and its inner area is 120.6 ft² (11.2 m²).  The peak height is 72 inches (183 cm).

4. Coleman 6 Person Sundome Tent

Coleman 6 Person Sundome Tent.

This is one of their best known tents that has been on the market for many years already. It is incredibly affordable and popular. The area is 100 ft² (9.3 m²) and this is under its simple dome supported by only two fiberglass poles and a short ridge pole.

As you realize from the picture, the fly is a partial-coverage type, and there are no vestibules for storage here. But this is why the tent is fully freestanding. I would describe it as a shelter for mild conditions and for summer camping or for two seasons maximum.

In this tent you have views through its windows that are on the front and on the back, and they are partly protected with the fly. There is a floor vent and a zippered port for an electric cable.

5. Coleman OneSource Camping Dome Tent 6 Person

Coleman OneSource Camping Dome Tent 6 Person.

This Coleman OneSource Camping Dome Tent 6 Person is again a very simple dome with two main X-crossed poles and a short ridge pole that creates an awning above the door.

The tent is with integrated lighting system and a fan is also included. This is a part of a collection that includes many products, and they all come with an included OneSource rechargeable battery.

It can be described as suitable for 3 seasons, and it is nicely ventilated with fly and floor vents. There are several windows here and one door. The weight is 20.5 lb (9.32 kg), and the floored area is 100 ft² (9.3 m²). The peak height is 6 ft (183 cm).

6. Coleman Carlsbad 6 Person Tent

This tent has also been around for many years, and it remains popular. There are good reasons for this because it is build from dark materials and it completely blocks sunlight.

There is an inner bedroom with the mentioned dark test technology, and its area is 90 ft² (8.36 m²). This is enough to accommodate 6 sleeping pads on the ground. But you also have a screen room on the front. It is partly protected from the rain, and this is a space for sitting while being protected from flying insects.

The frame is with their Fast Pitch design, so you can set it up easily. The tent is low profile with its peak height of 68 inches (173 cm). The packed size is great 26 x 11 x 11 inches (66 x 28 x 28 cm).

7. Coleman Skydome 6 Tent with Full Fly

Coleman Skydome 6 Tent with Full Fly

Here you have a 2-layer tent with a full-coverage fly that creates a vestibule for storage. This is an extended dome, where extension means the vestibule with its extra loop pole for support. The vestibule adds 40 ft² (3.7 m²) of fully covered area for gear.

The tent offers full protection for a 3-season camping. The floored inner area is 85 ft² (7.9 m²). There is one door, and the fly is with vents.

The tent weighs 9 lb 5.4 oz (8.77 kg), and its peak height is 72 inches (183 cm). The poles are fiberglass, and the tent is very affordable.

8. Coleman Montana 6 Person Tent

This is yet another of their most popular tents. It has been on the market for many years and it is built for the US market. You have a central dome with two extensions on the sides, each with one extra loop pole. The poles are a fiberglass.

The fly is a partial coverage type and this allows for windows which you see in the picture. The front window on the door is under the awning so you have a dry entry design.

The floored area is a bit modest although the tent may look large, you have 84 ft² (7.8 m²). The tent comes with an E-cable port. The peak height is 68 inches (173 cm).

Final thoughts

So this was mu selection of the best Coleman 6 person dome tents, each with something specific and all of them very popular and affordable. Some of these tents have been around for many years already, and they have thousands of reports by users on Amazon and elsewhere, so you know what you are buying.

Coleman normally has spare parts for their tents, and this may be important if you have a damaged pole or any other issue. Note many brands offer such things.

Note that most of the tents are not really spacious and it is best to downgrade the number of users at least by one. But a few of them have enough space for storage.

This list will be updated whenever I find a suitable tent of this brand that deserves to be included here. So bookmark this text and come again. Let me know if you have questions, there is a comment box below.

My first tent was the one I used with my wife when we went on our honeymoon. In fact, you can see it in About page here in the site. Read More…
