What type of tent is this
This Straight Wall Family Cabin Tent is exactly what its name says, a very typical cabin style structure with almost vertical walls. The tent is also very tall with its peak height of 86 inches (218 cm), so this is a good reason to include it in my list of very tall family camping tents.
The tent comes with a removable divider, so it is formally in the group of 2-room tents. Do not expect lots of privacy with such a construction, the divider is just a curtain (see the picture below).
You have one door only with a window on it, plus 5 separate windows. All these openings are with mesh and zippered panels for privacy and for protection from elements.
The tent is fully freestanding with its 6 leg poles, but you have stakes included and do not miss using them, this is a boxy and tall structure, not very stable in side winds. The tent comes with a gear loft included, it attaches to the highest area of the ceiling as shown below, so you can store some small items there.
Who is it for
Capacity: The declared capacity is 10 people, and they clearly use a backpacking principle by measuring how many sleeping pads you can fit on the floor. You will see in the specifications below that the dimensions are such that this is indeed possible if you wish to feel like a sardine in a can.
But the area is only 140 ft² (13 m²) and this gives 14 ft² (1.3 m²) per person. For any real family camping this is far too small. So this is a tent for parents with two kids maximum. It fits 2 queen-sized airbeds easily. You can increase the capacity while still having plenty of space by using bunk camping cots, they fit perfectly with such steep and tall walls, see them in the picture below.
Seasons & climate: This is a summer camping tent and generally best suited for warm weather. The ceiling is all mesh and you have mesh everywhere around as well. The partial coverage fly protects the roof only. But there are no floor vents which are needed if you have to keep panels closed when it is raining.
With so much mesh on the ceiling, I would not camp with this tent in a cold environment. For such a situation better check some more enclosed design, you have them many in my separate list. Also, avoid windy situations, this tent is so big and boxy for such places.
Weight-wise, the tent is heavy and its packed size is such that you need a car for transportation, the numbers are given in the specifications below.
Materials
The poles & stakes
The poles are a combination of steel used for the legs and fiberglass used for the roof. So you have them 6 + 3 for the two mentioned areas. The poles attach to the tent with clips, sleeves on the roof, and pin and ring connectors on the base.
There are also 14 steel stakes in the package so use them to secure the tent properly.
The fabric
The fly and the walls are a 68D coated polyester fabric. They do not provide waterproof rating but all reports confirm that this tent does not leak. The seams are all taped. The floor is a polyethylene so this is a highly waterproof material, and you have a 6 inches bathtub design.
Other features
- An electrical cord access port is available.
- A carry bag is included, see the picture.
- Small storage pockets on the wall, far from enough.

Ozark Trail 10 Person 2 Room Straight Wall Family Cabin Tent vs Competitors
There are several tents here in the site with the same capacity and built in the same style. So I give it side by side with Core 10 and GigaTent 10 tents. This may help in better understanding its features and make an informed decision. It is more affordable than the other two tents, but it offers far less area than the GigaTent 10. Final thoughts, my rating, pros & cons
In summary, this Ozark Trail 10 Person 2 Room Straight Wall Family Cabin Tent is a simple and easy to use construction in spite of such a size and height. If you are on a budget this is a tent to consider. This is a great and affordable option for occasional summer family camping adventures.
My rating is based on a set of criteria used consistently for all the tents here in the site for easy comparison. See how I rate it:
If you would want something different with the same declared capacity, see this Tahoe Gear Olympia 10-Person tent which is an extended dome type. Check this OT QOMOTOP Tent 10 Person and also this Outdoor Products 10 Person Instant Cabin Tent if you want something with instant setup.

I have the ozark 10 person straight camping tent and I’m looking for a replacement pole. Where can I find it?

This is hard to say. This brand is owned by Walmart, so try to get in touch with them or with the seller where you ordered it. I just checked at Walmart and the tent is available there, so try to contact them through this link.
