My list of the best 5 room camping tents

Below is the list with the tents ordered by the floor area from smaller to larger:

 

All the tents in the list are tunnel type, so these are elongated structures with a rather similar configuration where you have a centrally positioned living area with multiple windows, and the sleeping zones are in the two sides. Yet another feature common for all of them is the impressive waterproof rating, so these are 3-season tents for all weather conditions.

1. OLPRO Wichenford 8 Berth Family Camping Tunnel Tent

The area of this tent includes two inner tents within the shell. So one of the inner tents is with two rooms, and the other has a removable divider and it can be used as a single or as a two-room tent. There is also a large and fully protected living room in between the two inner tents.

It offers a huge area of 205 ft² (19 m²). This is why it is also in my list of extra large family camping tents. You have a very high waterproof rating for a full protection in any weather conditions. The poles are fiberglass. There are 2 windows and 2 doors. The weight is 61.7 lb (28 kg).

2. Vango Purbeck Tent 600

This Vango Purbeck Tent 600 is an impressive 5-room structure with many (6 + 2) solid windows. You have 4 floored rooms plus a completely protected floorless porch. There are 2 external plus 4 inner doors.

This is a tunnel tent with a huge waterproof rating, suitable for almost all seasons. The area is incredibly large, it offers 208.6 ft² (19.38 m²) in the floored area plus 70 ft² (6.5 m²) under the porch. This is why it is also in my list of extra large family camping tents. The weight is 49.6 lb (22.5 kg)

3. Eurohike Buckingham 8 Classic Family Tent

This tent is with a declared capacity of 8 people, and it offers a large area of 226 ft² (21 m²). This implies 28 ft² (2.6 m²) per person in 5 of its rooms.

The tent is with two sleeping units on the side, each with 2 rooms for 2 people, plus the central living room. It features 4 great panoramic PVC windows and you have 2 + 1 doors that allow for 3 awning configurations.

There are many storage elements here and many vents for a good ventilation. The floor of the shell tent is removable, and you can remove the inner tents as well and use the shell tent for family events in the garden.

Those inner tents can be used together or separately so you have various options depending on the number of users. In view of all these features, this tent is surprisingly affordable, please read more in my review.

4. Vango Stanford 800 XL Tent

This tent offers 227 ft² (21.1 m²) of the area for 8 people in its 5 rooms, so it is practically the same size as the Eurohike Buckingham 8 Classic tent above. But the design is quite different here. You have two entry doors and two PVC windows. The poles are fiberglass and the floor is fully sewn-in and sealed. The tent is with an impressive waterproof rating of 4000 mm and it is suitable for any weather situation in a 3-season use.

The sleeping area is what they call the lights out design, also known as the dark rest, which means that the daylight is reduced and you can sleep longer in the morning. The tent is tunnel type and it comes with Vango’s tensioned band system (TBSII) which stabilizes it laterally in adverse conditions. Please read more in my full review.

5. Skandika UV Protection Montana Unisex Outdoor Tunnel Tent

This tent offers no less than 226 ft² (21.7 m²) of the floored area in its 5 rooms. But it has three separate inner tents so you can organize the space as you wish, to have 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 rooms. The tent has 3 large doors with mesh against insects, many vents, and an impressive waterproof rating.

The tent is also very tall with its 78.74 inches (200 cm). The weight is 56.88 lb (25.8 kg) so it is heavy and a bit bulky when packed. It offers the awning with a pair of included poles for this purpose. In view of its size, I have included it also in my list of extra large family camping tents.

6. Berghaus Air 8 Inflatable Family Tent

This tent has two inner tents, each with a divider. So these are bedrooms, and there is also a central living room with two doors. This is why it is here in the list.

It offers solid windows, excellent ventilation, and numerous storage options. The floored area is huge, you have 242 ft² (22.5 m²), and 9.9 square meters of this is the living room. This is why it is also in my list of extra large family camping tents.

The tent is supported by air beams, there are 5 of them in total. This is why it is very easy to set it up. I have included it in my list of best inflatable tents. The weight is 66.1 lb (30 kg).

7. Eurohike Buckingham Elite 8

This Buckingham Elite 8 tent is the largest in the list so far, with 249 ft² (23.1 m²) of the floor area it offers 31 ft² (2.9 m²) per person. The tent’s shell is with a 3000 mm waterproof rating, so you should be fully protected regardless of where you camp. The floor is also fully sewn-in and sealed.

There are two entry doors, and one of them is with a short hood which you see in the picture, the other door allows for an awning configuration and the poles for this purpose are included with the tent. The windows are PVC, so they are fully sealed and also equipped with blinds from inside.

The tent is without mesh, similar to the other tunnel-type models here, but there are no less than 8 vents in the fly so ventilation should not be an issue. 8. Berghaus Telstar 8 Nightfall Air Tent

This tent has 5 rooms but there is also a large porch with a removable floor. So you could describe it also as a 6-room tent. 

The inner floored area is huge, you have 273.4 ft² (25.4 m²), the porch offers 101.2 ft² (9.4 m²). The tent is pleasant and tall, there are 3 inner tents with bedrooms that are dark rest type.

This is also an inflatable tent, so there are no solid poles. It is included in my list of best inflatable tents. You also have E-cable ports and solid windows. The weight is 114.4 lb (51.9 kg).

9. Ozark Trail Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent with Screen Room

With its 5 rooms plus a screen room, and with such a shape and size, this Ozark Trail Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent with Screen Room is one of the most remarkable tents on the market. This is why it is also in my list of tents with a screen room.

The tent has 13 windows in total and 5 doors, 4 E-cable ports, and many storage pouches. The total area is 279 ft² (26 m²) plus the vestibule area of 61 ft² (5.7 m²). This is why it is in my list of extra large family camping tents. It is heavy as you would expect so the weight is 60.2 lb (27.3 kg). You will want to know that it is very affordable.

10. Coleman Weathermaster 8XL Air BlackOut Tent

This tent is here because of its incredible structure that includes 5 rooms and a fully protected porch. So you have two inner tents, one with three bedrooms and removable dividers, and one separate inner tent. The latter can be removed if you want more space in the living room. The front porch is fully protected so it looks like the sixth room without floor.

But this is also what they call the BlackOut tent, and this means bedrooms are dark rest type. They claim it blocks up to 99% of daylight.

The tent is supported with inflatable beams instead of classic poles, so this is a great example of the air beams technology. I have included it in my list of best dark rest tents. You have two doors here, and many solid and mesh windows.

Ventilation is excellent, and this includes numerous low and high vents, plus mesh doors and windows. They claim that the tent offers also temperature management. There are many storage pouches and a cable port.

Here are some numbers. The weight is 98 lb (44.4 kg), and the floored area is 285 ft² (26.5 m²). The porch adds 77.5 ft² (7.2 m²). The tent is tall, you have a peak height of 84.6 inches (215 cm).

11. Vango Orava 600XL Tent

The area of this tent is huge, it offers 333 ft² (31 m²) and this all is organized in 5 rooms. So you have 3 sleeping rooms in two inner tents, plus a living room. This part is with a sewn-in and sealed floor. But you also have the front room, it has 10 PVC windows but this is without the floor, yet it is fully protected from the rain.

The tent’s official capacity is 6 people, but you have seen the area. It can easily accommodate 12 people. The huge front room is large enough for all your gear even if the tent is used by 12 people.

The waterproof rating is 4000 mm for the shell and far more for the floor, but the poles are fiberglass and this is not so great. There are 3 entry doors and 4 inner doors. This is one of the most expensive tents here. Please follow the link to read more.

12. Outwell Vermont XLP Premium 7 Person Tent

The Vermont XLP 7 person tent is a true giant with its 371 ft² (34.48 m²) total area in 5 rooms. This is a structure with around 20 PVC windows, steel poles, 3 entry doors, and 4 inner doors.

The waterproof rating is impressive, you have 6000 mm for the shell tent and 10000 mm for the floor. All the doors are double-layer design with mesh and with panels, so you have both ventilation and protection.

The tent comes with a built-in wardrobe and with around 20 storage pockets, with several cable entry points and with tinted windows with shutters.
