Here you have the list of best inflatable tents for camping available on the market in 2019, all easy setup tools with air beams instead of classic poles. All are described in detail in my separate reviews.
This technology has been around for a number of years already but it is becoming very popular recently. Such air inflatable tents are a bit heavy though they usually pack well, so these are camping tents for places with motorized access.
My list of best airbeam tents
The tents given in the list are ordered by the flor area from the smallest to the largest:
So what you will find here
- The most important feature is that these are all air beam tents of course.
- The site is about family camping tents, therefore all the tents here in the list are for 5 people and more.
- One tent is with an extra metal pole, combined with the air beams.
- Some of the tents are 2-room structures, some are with 3 and 4 rooms, and believe it or not, you will find some great examples of 5-room tents.
- Several of the tents here are so-called dark rest tents or “lights out” tents. This means that the sleeping area is darker and with reduced glare, so you can sleep longer in the morning and also take a nap during the day.
- The tents from the dark-room type group are a hybrid single layer and double layer. This implies the following: the living zone is a single-layer area while the sleeping areas are double-layer. This is good because of the condensation issues which are normally more important during the night when you sleep. All Vango tents are of this type.
- Some of the tents are single layer type.
- You will see also canvas tents here.
- Most of the tents here are designed as 3-season tents. So you definitely have full protection from the rain, their waterproof rating is usually very high.
- These tents are more suitable for a cooler environment. This is because of their design where you do not have mesh on the ceiling so typical for summer camping tents. It is important to know this to avoid any unpleasant experience.
- Several of the tents here in the list are from Vango brand. This should not be surprising because this is the top brand for such tents, and as far as I know they started this industry.
1. Easy Camp Hurricane 500 Inflatable Tunnel Tent
This Hurricane 500 is with inflatable beams and this is why it is here in the lits. So you have three beams with separate valves and one person can set it up easily and quickly. The beams create loops so this is also a tunnel type tent,
But this is also a 3-room structure with an inner tent that has two sleeping units, and with one large front room. It comes with 2 doors on the front room, one on the front and one on the side. You also have clear PVC windows. You might want to know that this is a very affordable tent.
The area is 116.3 ft² (10.8 m²), and the weight is 34.8 lb (15.8 kg). Please follow the link for more, it is fully described in our separate text.
2. Wenzel Vortex 8 Person Tent
This tent is with the official capacity of 8 people, though its floor area is not so big, this is why it is on this position in the list; they have obviously had a backpacking principle in mind with such a declared tent capacity. You have a divider inside, so this is formally a 2-room tent.
The complete structure is a single layer design, and without mesh, so it is better suited for a cooler environment. Though you have vents on both narrow sides, and one is visible in the picture above, and the mesh is on the windows and on the door.
The waterproof rating is 800 mm, so with this tent I would avoid areas with lots of rain. The weight is 22.81 lb (10.35 kg) and the dimensions (L x W) are 15 x 9 ft (457 x 274 cm). The inner floor area is 135 ft² (12.5 m²) and the packed size is 25.5 x 11.5 x 11.5 in (65 x 30 x 30 cm).
3. Easy Camp Tempest 500 Inflatable Tunnel Tent
This Tempest 500 is a 5-person tent but it has enough space to accommodate a few people more if necessary. The protected area is around 142 ft² (13.2 m²) and it is divided into three parts, two sleeping rooms and one large living room. The sleeping area is a tent within the tent, and you have a removable divider between the two asymmetric rooms.
But the tent is here because of its air beams, so you have them three and a pump is included in the package. There are two entry doors and three PVC windows. The tent is also equipped with a few vents and I see it better suited for a cooler climate than for a warm one.
It comes with an e-cable port and a fully sealed main floor, the inner tent has its own extra floor. The waterproof rating is 3000 mm for the shell, and the floors are a thick polyethylene, so you have full protection from elements.
4. Vango 5 Person Odyssey Air 500 Tent
By the declared capacity, this is a small tent, only for 5 people. But its actual floor area is huge and this is why it is in such a position here in the list. In fact, this is a 3-room tent and the total floor area 160 ft² (14.88 m²). The inner structure includes a big sitting room plus a cocoon sleeping zone with 2 units separated by a divider.
The inner tent is of the materials which reduce glare so this tent is also in the group of dark rest tents.
The shell tent is with an impressive waterproof rating, so you have a full weather protection in a 3-season use. The construction is such that it is better suited for a cooler and wet environment.
This is a “lights out” design, and the weight is 35 lb (15.9 kg). The dimensions (L x W) are 183.1 x 126 in (465 x 320 cm) and the floor area is 160 ft² (14.88 m²). The tent packs to 27.6 x 13.4 x 13.4 in (70 x 34 x 34 cm).
5. Vango Capri 500 XL
This tent is formally only for 5 people, but its inner floor area is 172.2 ft² (16 m²), and you also have a porch visible in the picture which adds 34.4 ft² (3.2 m²). So this is a luxurious option for camping in a cooler environment. The waterproof rating is impressive so you have 4000 mm, and this is good enough for any weather situation in a 3-season use and even more than that.
The tent is with 3 rooms, one large living area plus two smaller sleeping rooms. The sleeping zone is a tent within the tent, and this is also a dark rest tent with a reduced glare.
The floor is fully sealed in all rooms, and it is bathtub style. In fact, in the sleeping area, you have a double floor layer. The tent’s packed size is 27.6 x 16.5 x 15 in (70 x 42 x 38 cm), so you can transport it even on a motorbike.
6. MOOSE OUTDOORS 10 Person Inflatable Family Tent
This is a 3-room tent with a very functional design which includes a centrally positioned living area and two sleeping rooms on the two sides. The structure is very pleasant with 3 large doors and all of them allow for awning configurations.
The waterproof rating is very high, no less than 3000 mm, and this should be a guarantee for full protection in a normal 3-season use.
The weight is 36 lb (16 kg) and the dimensions (L x W x H) are 19 x 9.2 ft (579 x 280 cm). The floor area is 174.8 ft² (16.2 m²), and the packed size is 18 x 14 x 12 inches (46 x 36 x 30 cm).
7. Robens Aero Yurt 8 Man Airventure Air Tent
This Robens Aero Your 8 is here because of its air beams and they use an ingenious design so that all 8 beams can be inflated through one single valve. But this is also a very tall tent with a peak height of 106.3 inches (270 cm), so I have included it in my list of very tall tents.
This is a poly-cotton structure, breathable and suitable for all seasons. The fabric is 35% cotton and 65% polyester and this is a ripstop material. I have included it in my list of best canvas tents. The floor is a fully sewn-in 210T Oxford polyester with 10000 mm waterproof rating and this is a bathtub design.
The area is 181 ft² (16.8 m²) and this is more than enough for the declared 8-person capacity. This is a single-room and single-door construction with two windows on the sides. Please follow the link to read more about this impressive tent in my full review.
8. Vango Odyssey Air 600 Tent
Officially, this is a tent “only” for 6 people, but its floor area is really huge and you have around 3 square meters per person. So if you want a luxurious option for family camping, this tent should be in your shortlist.
The structure is very similar to the 5-person tent of the same brand shown above. So here again you have a 3-room design, with 2 sleeping units and one large sitting area.
The tent is also of the dark-rest type or “lights out” as they describe it. With the 4000 mm waterproof rating, this is a truly reliable option for any 3-season weather situation.
This is again a “lights out” design, and the weight is 38.6 lb (17.5 kg). The dimensions (L x W) are 183.07 x 149.61 in (465 x 380 cm) and the floor area is 190 ft² (17.67 m²). The packed size is 70 x 37 x 36 cm.
9. Crua Core Dome 6 Person Tent
Here you have something totally unique. This tent is a dome-style structure with inflatable beams, it has 3 large main doors plus 3 smaller doors where you can attach smaller Duo tents from the same brand in a combination which they call the Crua Clan. Note that this combination also includes the Cocoon Insulated tents used in the Duo tents.
But you can use this Core 6 tent as it is, alone and without anything else. This is a huge structure with 192 ft² (17.8 m²) of the floor area, so this gives 32 ft² (2.97 m²) per person. But there is still the huge porch area which adds 67 ft² (6.25 m²) of the protected space, see the picture. This is an incredibly tall tent with 7.5 ft (229 cm) peak height.
The waterproof rating is as impressive as everything else here, so you have no less than 5000 mm. This is a tent for any weather conditions in a 3-season use. Please read more in my full review.
10. Vango Capri 600XL Tent
This is an exceptional design, the most luxurious tent in the list with 194 ft² (18 m²) of the inner area plus a huge porch in front of the tent.
I mentioned in the introduction above the tent with an additional classic pole together with 4 air beams, so this is the tent, and the fiberglass pole is used for the porch only.
Formally, this is a 6-people tent and it is organized into 3 units, one large living area, and two sleeping rooms. The complete floor is sewn in and sealed and this is what makes it different from the other Vango tents here in the list.
Here too you have the dark-rest design in the sleeping zone which is a tent within the tent in the true sense. The porch adds a lot to the already very livable structure.
The external shell is with 4000 mm hydrostatic head, so this is again a very reliable tent for a 3-season use, design in Scotland so you can be sure it will keep you dry.

- Weight: 52 lb (23.55 kg).

- Packed size (L x W x H): 27.6 x 16.9 x 15.4 in (70 x 43 x 39 cm).
11. Vango Odyssey Air 800 Tent
This is an impressive design which includes 5 separate rooms. This includes a large central living area with two external doors, and on the two sides you have two sleeping zones each with two sleeping units separated by a removable divider.
The waterproof rating is the same as in the other Vango tents, so you have 4000 mm and the tent will keep you dry and safe in any environment in a 3-season use.
The structure is without any metal pole. The two sleeping units are tents within the external shell tent, each with its own bathtub floor.
The floor in the living area is not sewn-in, it is linked-in instead, and it is removable. The windows are PVC material. Please see more in my full review.
- 8 people capacity.
- 5-room tent.
- Tent for a cooler environment.
- Total area: 200 ft² (18.59 m²).
- Weight: 47.5 lb (21.55 kg).
12. Berghaus Air 6 Tent
The Berghaus Air 6 tent is a very roomy and livable structure with large windows and with 3 rooms. These include a large sitting room in the center, and two sleeping areas on the two sides. Those sleeping zones are tents within the tent, and each of them is with 2 zippered doors.
It comes with an incredibly high waterproof rating of 6000 mm. The floor is fully sewn-in and sealed so you have a full protection from all sides.
You have high and low vents which you can see in the picture. There are two external doors and both are equipped with mesh and with waterproof panels. The windows are PVC from outside, but you also have blinds from inside for privacy and to reduce glare.
You have electric cable ports, one on either side, and cable routing inside the tent, lantern hanging points, and numerous storage pockets on the walls.

- 3-room tent.
- Dimensions (L x W): 287 x 98 in (730 x 250 cm).
- Floor area: 202 ft² (18.75 m²).
13. Outwell Edmonds 5A Tent
This Edmonds 5A tent is obviously here because of its air-beam technology, but it has many other features like numerous PVC tinted windows, three entry doors and all with mesh and panels, 4-rooms in total, etc.
The tent comes with an impressive 4000 mm waterproof rating for the shell and 10000 mm for the floor. It is very heavy and bulky when packed but this is not surprising when you see its total floor area which is 21 m² (226 ft²). Note that the declared capacity is only 5 people, so this is a very luxurious camping option. Please read more in my full review.
14. Coleman FastPitch Air Valdes 6 XL Tent
This tent is built in 4 sizes, so you have a 4-person tent, 6-person tent, 6-person L, and 6-person XL. The picture above shows the 6-person XL tent.
This is a 4-room structure which features blackout bedrooms that block out 99% of the sunlight. These bedrooms were The Winner Of The 2016 Camping Magazine Editor’s Choice Awards in The Category Best Camping Innovation.
The shell tent is with 4500 mm hydrostatic head so you have a full protection. All seams are taped and the floor is fully waterproof with inverted seams.
As you see from the picture you have a nice and deep porch on the front and one exceptional detail is the hinged door here.
- Capacity 6 people.
- Hinged door.
- Blackout rooms.
- Electric cable port.
- Floor area: 230 ft² (21.44 m²).
- Weight: 67.2 lb (30.5 kg).
- Packed size: 30.7 x 22.8 x 18.9 in (78 x 58 x 48 cm).
15. Neumayer Inflatable Family Tent XXL – Model Fiji
This is a very complex and very livable structure designed with a cross-shaped floor plan which includes 4 rooms. Its main central section is dome-shaped and this part is supported by the air beams.
However, on three sides you have 3 separate sleeping rooms, and these extended sections are supported by 3 classic poles. Note that the sleeping rooms are with real sewn-in walls and zippered doors, and they are physically separated from each other, each of them located in one segment of the cross structure and the main living area is in between them. So this design offers a maximum possible privacy available in a tent.
The ground area needed for this tent is huge 5.70 x 5.65 m, but as I said, this is a cross-shaped structure so the actual floor area in the tent is “only” 22.75 square meters (245 square feet). The floor area per person is 3.8 m² so this is an incredibly comfortable design.
The tent material is 100% polyester and with all seams sealed. The waterproof rating for this tent is 4000 mm. The groundsheet is weatherproof polyethylene and it is sewn-in to the tent, so you have a waterproof construction on the ground.
- Capacity: 6 people.
- Dimensions: 226 x 22 in (5.70 x 5.65 m).
- Floor area: 245 ft² (22.75 m²).
- Peak height: 82.7 in (210 cm).
- 5 vents.
- 1 external door.
- 3 internal doors.
16. Outwell Clarkston 6A Tent
This is a feature-rich tent with air beams. The structure is with 4 rooms and the total area they provide is 290 ft² (27 m²). This includes two sleeping rooms, one living room, and one front room with a removable floor. The sleeping zone is with dark rest features. The windows are with PVC and tinted, and you also have inner shutters for privacy.
The waterproof rating is impressive, 4000 mm for the shell and 10000 mm for the floor. So this is a very reliable tent for a 3-season use. Note that all doors are with mesh for extra ventilation when the sky is clear, but you have many vents around as well. Please read more in my full review.
17. Vango Maritsa 600 XL Airbeam Tent
This is a tent from Vango’s Elite series, with roughly 29.45 square meters (317 ft²) of the floor area. The tent is with 5 units, and these include 3 sleeping rooms all the same size, one large living area, and one fully closed porch/vestibule area.
Pre-angled beams maximize the internal space which is huge in any case. There are three asymmetric entry points, with the huge porch on the front, so this all with large PVC side windows and several skylight windows makes it a really versatile and livable structure.
All seams are factory taped. The tent fabric is Vango’s Protex 420 Double Ripstop with 6000 mm waterproof rating. The groundsheet is fully sewn-in Oxford polyester with a bathtub design. As you see from the picture above, there are numerous vents underneath the windows on both sides, plus a long vent on the back, for an excellent ventilation; they have made them 50% bigger than in the previous version of the tent.
The front awning is with a fully zipped vestibule. The front door has a curved zip which can be used from either side. The inner doors are part mesh for ventilation. All external doors are with mesh for ventilation and for keeping insects out.
You have lantern hanging points, and many pockets in the living area and in the bedrooms conveniently positioned for storing your stuff.
The sleeping area is a lights-out type with a darker fabric which reduces the amount of morning light.
You will get some feeling about this tent if you watch this promotion video by Vango:
- Capacity: 6-person.
- Weight: 109 lb (49.5 kg).
- Floor area: 317 ft² (29.45 m²)
- Packed size: 30.7 x 18.9 x 18.8 in (78 x 48 x 48 cm).
- 5 separate units.

- Skylight windows.
- 3 cable entry points.
- Lights out design.
- Fire retardant fabrics meet European EN5912 safety standards.
18. Outwell Corvette 7 Air Comfort Family Tent
If you were impressed with the comfort of some of the tents above, wait to see this giant. Here you have a structure with dimensions 7.5 x 4.5 m. So the floor area is huge and you have 4.8 square meters per person for the declared capacity of 7 people. This is simply incredible.
There are 5 separate units here, and these include 3 sleeping rooms, one huge living area, and one huge fully closed vestibule area. The sleeping rooms are of different size; one is a single room, the room in the center is for 3 people and the other side room is for 2.
The bigger part of the tent is a single layer, but the sleeping area is a tent within a tent so you have breathable 100% polyester inner tent.
The groundsheet is a sealed double-coated 100% polyethylene with 10000 mm hydrostatic head, and it definitely keeps moisture and bugs out of the tent. There are 3 external doors and all are equipped with mesh, and you also have 4 inner doors all with mesh.
The tent’s body is Outwell’s Outtex fabric with 5000 mm hydrostatic head.
This huge structure is supported by 5 air beams which create a very tall ceiling with the maximum inner height of 215 cm.
The tent is with dark rest design, so glare in the sleeping zone is considerably reduced. The PVC windows in the living area are tinted and equipped with toggle-up curtains for privacy and glare reduction.
An enormous number of pockets are on the walls (probably 20 or so), cable entry point is available, an air pump is in the package, and a doormat is included.
Please see more in this video:
- Capacity: 7 people.
- Weight: 85.3 lb (38.7 kg).
- Dimensions: 24.6 x 14.8 ft (295 x 177 in; 7.5 x 4.5 m).
- Floor area: 364 ft² (33.75 m²).
- Peak height: 84.6 in (215 cm).
- 5 rooms.
- Dark rest design.
- Full mesh external doors.
- Tinted windows.
- Fully-sealed floor.
So this was my list of best inflatable tents for camping, and as you realize many of them are really comfortable structures. This is because many of them are designed for areas with lost of rain where people are forced to spend more time in the tent, and for this reason, you have such generously sized living areas. Most of them are with exceptionally high weather resistance, so these tools will surely keep you dry.
This is an attractive design in general, air beams are easy to inflate, and you can really set them up in a few minutes, there is nothing to guess, no color-coded poles and flies. So I believe this concept will only be gaining popularity.
But my guess is that they will also have to modify the design of some of these tents, to make them suitable for a warm environment by adding more mesh. As you realize, many of them are from Vango, so they are designed for a wet and cooler environment which they have in Scotland.
Thank you for reading. I wonder what you think about this innovative technology, please use the comment box below. Have a nice day.
