Here you have my selection of the best Coleman 6 person family camping tents with some great and sometimes unique features, all very affordable and incredibly popular.
Coleman builds tents in all sizes and shapes, and this 6-person family camping tents group is particularly diverse. The reason is that they build them separately for the EU market and for the US market. So the former are huge and they typically can accommodate far more than 6 people.
On the other hand, the tents built for the US market are typically smaller regarding the floor area, and the official capacity is usually unrealistic. So make sure that you check the actual dimensions, and do not rely blindly on the official capacity.
I mentioned also variety of shapes. So indeed, here you dome tents, extended dome tents, tunnel tents, and cabin tents. Most of them are collapsible and need an assembly, but there are also instant tents in the list.

1. Coleman Valdes Deluxe 6 XL Air BlackOut Bedroom Family Tent
Here you have a tent with 4 rooms, but it also has a fully closable porch visible in the picture, which is practically one extra floorless room. The tent’s floor area is 244.3 ft² (22.7 m²), and the porch adds 75.3 ft² (7 m²). Because of such a size, I have included it also into my list of extra large family camping tents.
The tent can be described as a 3-season tunnel-type structure. It is supported with inflatable beams. I have included it also in my list of best inflatable tents for camping.
Note that the inner tents are from a very dark material so this is an excellent dark-rest tent as well. The tent is tall and with solid windows, it has many vents, and its bedrooms are extra large. The weight is 84.7 lb (38.4 kg).
2. Coleman Oak Canyon 6 Tunnel Tent
The Coleman Oak Canyon 6 Tunnel Tent is one of the tents they built for the EU market. It is 6-person officially, but its inner floored area is incredible 239 ft² (22.25 m²). So there is no doubt this tent can easily accommodate 12 people if necessary.
There are 4 rooms here. Under the shell you have two inner tents with 3 bedrooms, and this is what they call the BlackOut design that blocks 99% of the daylight. They claim that this allows for climate and temperature control as well. The tent is also in my list of best dark rest tents. The 4th room is a large living room.
This tent can be used in all seasons. It is nicely ventilated, the fabric is with a huge waterproof rating, and the windows are solid. It weighs 60 lb (27.2 kg).
3. Coleman Aspen 6L Tent
In this Coleman Aspen 6L Tent you have a very typical tunnel type construction supported with 5 long fiberglass loops. Its floored area is 207 ft² (19.26 m²). You also have a porch visible in the picture with 57 ft² (5.3 m²).
As for the inner floored area, it is organized into 4 rooms. The tent is pleasant with its 7 large solid windows, and 2 doors. The fabric is with a high waterproof rating for full weather protection as usual with Coleman tents built for the EU area.
The official capacity is only 6 people, but you have seen the numbers, so if necessary, this tent can accommodate twice more. The weight is 55.56 lb (25.2 kg).
4. Coleman Tent Cook 6 Person
This tent is yet another from the EU market. The picture shows that this is a very typical tunnel tent. It is here because of its declared 6-person capacity, but it offers 184 ft² (17.1 m²) of the inner area organized into 4 rooms. So this is a huge camping tent and I have included it also in my list of best 4 room tents.
There are 3 doors here, you also have PVC windows, and the shell is with a a huge waterproof rating. The floor is fully sewn-in, and it comes with an E-cable port. The poles are fiberglass, there are 4 shock-corded loops that support the tent.
5. Coleman WeatherMaster 6 Person Screened Tent
This is one of the best known tents of Coleman, and it is primarily built for the US market. As you realize from the name, this is a screened tent. You have in total 9.2 + 6.7 m² in the main room and in the screened room.
The tent has a hinged door and it is visible in the picture. The shape is a mix of a tunnel and a cabin type, with very steep and high walls. The tent is also very tall, the peak height is 80 inches (203 cm).
The support includes very strong 19 mm thick steel poles. This is an incredibly popular tent, and this is partly because of its great price.
6. Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent
This Coleman Ridgeline 6 Person Tent is a typical extended dome tent. From the picture you understand its structure, there is a central dome part and two extensions supported with extra lops. It offers an area of 144 ft² (13.4 m²) but not all of this is fully sealed.
There are 3 rooms here. Two of them are bedrooms in inner tents on the sides within the shell tent, and each of them is with a space for 3 people. The central area is with a removable linked-in type floor.
The tent can be described as suitable for a 3-season camping, its waterproof rating is high. The poles are fiberglass.
There are 2 doors and several solid windows. The picture shows that it allows for an awning configuration with included poles. You will want to know also that this is a very affordable tent.
7. Coleman Skydome 6-Person Screen Room Camping Tent with Dark Room Technology
As you realize from the name, this tent combines two great features, a screen room and dark rest design. The latter implies that in the bedroom, up to 90% of daylight is blocked.
The tent is a two-room configuration, and the front room is built with mesh on its three sides. But there you also have closable panels. So this is a fully protected room, and and it doubles also as a screen room. This area is of around 40 square feet (3.7 m²) and its floor is fully sealed.
The structure is an extended dome supported with fiberglass poles. There is an E-port as well. The tent weighs 18.34 lb (8.3 kg), and its total floored space is 125 ft² (11.6 m²). The peak height is 72 inches (183 cm).
8. Coleman 6 Person Sundome Tent
This tent has been on the market for many years already. It is incredibly affordable and popular. You have a protected space of 100 ft² (9.3 m²) under its simple dome supported by only two fiberglass poles and a short ridge pole.
The fly is a partial-coverage type and there are no vestibules here. I would describe it as a shelter for mild conditions and for summer camping or for two seasons maximum.
The tent has windows on the front and on the back and they are partly protected with the fly. The setup is very easy, and the tent is freestanding. It has a floor vent and a zippered port for an electric cable. Note that there is a 4-person version as well.
9. Coleman OneSource Camping Dome Tent 6 Person
This Coleman OneSource Camping Dome Tent 6 Person is a part of a collection that included many products. They all are based on an included OneSource rechargeable battery. So this is a tent with integrated lighting system and a fan included.
The tent is a simple dome shape with two main fiberglass poles and a short ridge pole. It can be described as suitable for 3 seasons, and it is nicely ventilated with fly and floor vents.
There are several windows here and one door. The weight is 20.5 lb (9.32 kg), and the floored area is 100 ft² (9.3 m²). The peak height is 6 ft (183 cm).
10. Coleman Cabin Camping Tent with Screen Room
This tent is built for the US market and they have two versions of it. It is officially a 6 person tent and it offers an area of around 97 ft² (9 m²). The shape is tunnel-type so it is best to ignore the word Cabin in the name. It is beautifully designed and pleasant, most suitable for summer camping, with windows on all the sides.
The mentioned two variants imply options with and without a waterproof porch. You have one door here, and one screen room in front. An e-cable port is available as well. The tent is also in my list of best screen room tents. It weighs 32.5 lb (14.74 kg).
11. Coleman 6-Person Connectable Tent
This is a very unique design, what you see here is a connectable tent. This means it can be zipped to three other tents of this type or to smaller 3-person tents from the same series, one of them is shown in the picture.
So this is a 6-person tent, but you can transform it into a tent village, all connected to each other. The tent is fully freestanding and clearly cabin-style. There are 4 doors and two separate windows. The doors are double-layer structures so they have windows on them as well.
This is what they call the Fast Pitch design, and this means there is a hub element attached to the poles. The poles include steel legs and fiberglass roof segments. The area is 90.4 ft² (8.4 m²), and the peak height is 76 inches (193 cm).
12. Coleman Carlsbad 6 Person Tent
This tent has also been around for many years, and it remains popular. There are good reasons for this because of the following features:
- The tent includes their dark test technology.
- The frame is with their Fast Pitch design.
- There is a screen room.
The total area is 40 ft² (13 m²), but the screen room is not fully protected, so the inner protected zone is with the dimensions 10 x 9 ft (3.05 x 2.74 m), and this means 90 ft² (8.36 m²). This is enough to accommodate 6 sleeping pads on the ground.
The general shape is dome, and it is a bit low profile with its peak height of 68 inches (173 cm). The packed size is great 26 x 11 x 11 inches (66 x 28 x 28 cm).
13. Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent
This is an instant setup tent and they build it in three sizes, for 4, 6, and 8 people. This 6-person version offers 87.2 ft² (8.1 m²) so it is best to downgrade the number of users. The instant setup means that you can have it ready literally in 60 seconds.
From the picture you realize this is a cabin-type tent, but what you do not realize is that this is a single layer tent with an integrated fly. Note that they sell a partial coverage fly extra, if you think you need it.
You have windows around and a door, and they all are with inner waterproof panels. When the sky is clear you can keep them with mesh only. The tent is fully freestanding and supported with a steel frame that is pre-attached to the tent.
14. Coleman Skydome 6 Tent with Full Fly
The Coleman Skydome 6 Tent is with a full fly and vestibule so you have plenty of space for storage and a full protection in a 3-season camping. Its official capacity is for 6 people and for this you have a floored area of 85 ft² (7.9 m²). The mentioned vestibule adds 40 ft² (3.7 m²) of fully covered area for gear. There is one door only.
The tent is very affordable and dome-shaped, note that there is an extra loop pole for the vestibule support, and these are fiberglass poles. The tent weighs 9 lb 5.4 oz (8.77 kg), and its peak height is 72 inches (183 cm).
15. Coleman Montana 6 Person Tent
This Montana 6 tent is yet another of their most popular tents. It has been on the market for many years and it is built for the US market. As for the shape, this is an extended dome tent with one door and one room. The side extensions are supported with extra loops.
The total floored area which you have is 84 ft² (7.8 m²). The tent comes with fiberglass poles, an E-cable port, a pleasant awning supported with its own pole shown in the picture, and you also have side windows. The peak height is 68 inches (173 cm), so it is not very tall.
16. Coleman PEAK1 6-Person Dome Tent
Here you have a tent supported with quality aluminum poles. It is dome shaped with the dimensions of 120 x 100 inches (305 x 254 cm) and the inner area of 83 ft² (7.7 m²).
The tent is nicely ventilated, so you have roof vents plus a window on the fly. There is one door and one large vestibule. Note also that it comes with a bonus footprint included.
The tent can be described as lightweight with its 15 lb 8 oz (7 kg), and it is easy to use. You have a full protection with their WeatherTec Plus system, and waterproof rating of 2000 mm. All seams are taped, and the floor is a bathtub style so you are safe from splashes.
Yet another detail worth mentioning is that it comes with a 5-Year warranty. The peak height is 72 inches (183 cm).
Final thoughts
So you have seen it, these Coleman 6 person family camping tents are built in a variety of shapes and with many great features. Note that there are huge differences in the floor area. Some are very large and can accommodate more than 6 people, but some are too small for such a number of users.
